I think I watched the same video. I am going to attempt to make a stock or 2 and plan to do the aluminum for drilling/tapping. I also plan to do the inlet area with a resin/microballoons/chopped carbon fiber fill. All these stock building threads have motivated me to give it a try. After seeing how the first batch of epoxy dough with CF chop cured, figured it probably wouldn't hurt to hollow out the foam around the trigger well and pack it with a second batch. (1st photo) don't know if the CF chop made a difference but it is incredibly hard, much harder than I expected it to be. If I ever build another, I'll figure out a way to make the whole damn area around the action/grip out of this stuff. Watched a video of a well known stock company on YouTube do something of the same manner.
Also decided to add a 1/8" thick piece of aluminum about 1.5" long on the bottom of the but as a hard point to be drilled/threaded for a sling stud. Will do the same on the forend but it'll be 4" + for sling stud and or a pic rail.

Currently with the bedding block it's 19 and a bit Oz. Not sure what the finished weight will be, looking for durability /strength in the grip area. What is your target finished weight for this stock? I have debated giving carbon fiber a go, but couldn't justify the mess for the weight savings of carbon fiber over a lightweight wood stock.
