From above, it sounds like this is the bullet loaded in Federal Tru ammo, this site lists the G1 at 0.48 (vs the regular 168 SMK at 0.462). I didn't find anywhere that listed the G7, but you may find it searching Federal Tru loaded ammo.So what is the G7 for that 'Tipped SMK'?
No apologies necessary. I plan on shooting them.I apologize if my post was misleading.
What I read led me to believe that these were the normal TMK’s.
I didn’t realize that here was a different version of a TMK. I thought three was just the one.
Once aging, to @Hondo64d and anyone else who ordered, my apologies.
If a guy wanted to use these for hunting and only wanted to buy one weight, is it preferable to go with the 168 or 175? In my case, I have a 308 20" Tikka CTR (1:10) and a 308 20" Mauser M12 (1:11). I'll be shooting often at 4500-5000' and hunting 8000-11000'. Unfortunately, I haven't wrung out these rifles to see if there is a preference. It should be what was the Federal exclusive version of the TMK loaded in the Tru ammo line. It is a TMK. But one that has a an almost identical ogive to the 168gr SMK- very easy to get shooting. Phenomenal bullet.

Thank you...gonna order some168gr. Easy.
155 gr Scenar is the easy button! Kills and performs way above its level. If a guy wanted to use these for hunting and only wanted to buy one weight, is it preferable to go with the 168 or 175? Does the TRU version holder together a little better/more consistently at higher velocities (2700ish)?168gr. Easy.
I use the Scenars too. But I wanted to pick up some of these TMKs.155 gr Scenar is the easy button! Kills and performs way above its level.
They are indeed easy to get to shoot well. These are the only two loads with the 168gr Tipped SMK that I have tried in my “utility rifle,” yet they are the best that rifle has ever shot. Ten shot groups. It should be what was the Federal exclusive version of the TMK loaded in the Tru ammo line. It is a TMK. That's enough to get me to buy some, Nice shooting. They are indeed easy to get to shoot well. These are the only two loads with the 168gr Tipped SMK that I have tried in my “utility rifle,” yet they are the best that rifle has ever shot. Ten shot groups.
My utility rifle is essentially my ranch rifle, which goes with me in my UTV any time I’m out. It’s a Solus action with a 20” Criterion shouldered prefit from Northland Shooters Supply bedded in an AG Composites Adjustable Hunter.

Those are the only two powders I have tried with this bullet so far. That's enough to get me to buy some, Nice shooting.
edit: are these the only 2 powders you've tested so far? I have a lot of XBR, still need to get some N140. Also a lot of Varget on hand specifically for 308
Roger I got some coming, thank you for posting those resultsThose are the only two powders I have tried with this bullet so far.

Can you give a little more of the why? I thought military always favored the opposite and my personal anecdotal evidence always landed me on 178 Amax/Eldms to reaffirm. But I recognize its a bit more of a rainbow. Curious to hear your thoughts.168gr. Easy.
Pick what shoots best in your rifle and fill the freezer! At that range pretty much anything will get it done.Looks like Michigan will be getting rid of the straight wall requirement down state. Gonna make my 308 my new deer gun! I'll be looking for the best factory ammo for up to 250-300 yards with 150 and under being the most common range.
No doubt! I've been shooting all copper out of my 350 and 400 legends the last 6 years. I will probably stick with copper just because.Pick what shoots best in your rifle and fill the freezer! At that range pretty much anything will get it done.
