All things .308 Win

Those speers wreck deer pretty well also. After I killed a buck with one at almost 200 yards and saw the damage I bought another 500. They arent sexy but they work.
Forever, I've called the Speer Hotcore, The Poor Mans Partition. I think they're that good. The biggest whitetail I ever shot was an old buck that was over 200lbs dressed. Took him with a 150gr HC from a 308. Bullet went in and out both shoulders. I'd not hesitate to use that bullet on elk.

Bullets like the Speer HC, Hornady IL, and Sierra GK are great bullets, especially at modest 308 Win velocities. The 308 is famously easy on bullets. Inside 500 yards, where most game is (and should) be taken, BC is, within reason, more or less irrelevant.

Another 308 kill - 165 Hdy BTSP @ 230 yards. Bullet center punched the big front leg knuckle, penetrated the first lung and was found in the 2nd lung pretty mangled. At the shot there was an enormous "crack" as the bullet impacted the knuckle. The bull dropped in his tracks. That's as big a torture test as you can arrange for a bullet in the field. For a cheap C&C bullet, it worked admirably imo.

Aren't the Speer Hot-Cor bullets used in Federal Power-Shok (blue box) ammunition?

You don’t want that.

You want a T3 Sporter.
Yes, I do...or a 595 Master Sporter.

But I couldn't wait. It happened. I couldn't help it. In a moment of weakness, it followed me home. The price was too good to pass up on this lightly used 20" stainless CTR, so it ended up in a Bravo topped With a Bushnell Elite Tactical DMR scope that I had stashed away. Now to figure out what to feed it (I will roll my own). Hopefully, it's a hammer 🔨

Decisions. Waiting to get my 20” t3x from my FFL and contemplating what to put up top. I planned to have this 3-9 on my 6.5 creed thats off for a chop and thread but I forget how much I like them. I’ve never run the 10xHD before, this was a recent find that I think I got a good deal on. 6x killed 5 deer and one hog and it just works.

Left to right
3-9, 10x HD, 6x gen 2.

I know this has been discussed, but maybe you can save me a search. I wish the 6x worked for my tired eyes. Had some difficulty making out the hash marks on the 6x. Is the 10x any better? Thinking of trying one of those next. Otherwise, seems the 3-9x and 3-15x work better for me, but can't afford to outfit all my rifles that way. Thinking of outfitting one of my 308s as a "utility" rifle with a 10x SWFA, rather than strictly for hunting. I'm sold on SWFA scopes for the price, after my 3-15x took a beating on the hunt this year and remained zeroed/functional.
