2 1/8th inches, it is flexible enough to stretch some or use a zip tie to make it tighter.

Mr Ray, Does your vortex eye guard screw off? If it has threads you can use step up or step down rings.

The eye piece has a protective rubber shroud (eye cup) glued onto a grooved metal sleeve. The grooves ride on two studs allowing for adjustment of the eye cup relief. I took it apart looking for threads, but found none.

The outside is 47mm which is just shy of 2" so that lens piece would work once the cover is off. I'll add one to my T2 list.

Thank you

Great story and picture thread. I have never sheep hunted but felt like I was right there with you. Also, thanks to everyone for the survival tips. Many things I have never even thought of.

Time to make some new ammo for this fall. Going to fireform some 280 nickel plated brass into 280AI. Then load up some 150 grain Long Range Accubonds. Then get the load dialed in for the new Swarovski Z3.

have you had a chance to shoot the long range accubonds yet? a lot of people i talked do didn't like them so I'm sticking with accubonds

I have heard some chatter, have a couple boxes so though I would draw my own conclusions. :)

Really enjoyed reading about your experiences! Going on my first sheep hunt this year at 30 years old. Been chasing deer and moose since I was young. Can not wait! Learned quite a bit from your write up. Thanks

And I thought I was ready for the NW Territory. Hahahahahaha!!! I am learning so much! 20-30lb squirrels, back-up tent, selecting the right partner, argue about the campsite...thanks for this! Haven't read the whole thing yet but damn!! Loving it! BTW, thank you for your service!!!

Looks good fireforming the brass! I have some AccuBond LR that I am testing now for my 270WSM. Not sure which load my rifle will pick for my Dall hunt between the AB LR and the Berger bullets.

Wow! What an absolutely amazing read. Thank you for sharing the pictures, memories, and experiences with us. One of the best threads I have EVER read.

I have to echo these statements. Sheep being number one on my bucket list, I'd likely enjoy anything about them.

But not only was this about sheep, it was extremely well written.

Thanks for sharing the memories.

You should write a book. Between the beautiful pictures and your great writing, I envision a great coffee table book. Thank you for sharing.

Thanks you Steve for taking the time to share your story. I found myself finishing dinner and paper work quickly to get back on RokSlide and finish reading your writings. Put my name on the list for the pre sale for your future book.
Thanks also for the pm back on the ultra light Kimber. I now have a new .280AI at the gunsmiths getting a bit of work done. Let me know how your .280 AI likes the Nosler ABLR rounds.

Stid, Really nice job on your 10 year Mountain Hunting reflection. There is a ton of great information in this thread and it should be considered required reading for those interested in chasing critters in high places. Congrats!

I have tried and tried to get the 150 LRAB's to group, but no luck,, I tried some 140 Bergers VLDs and they came in nicely and I have an accurate load clocking in at 3250, entered the data into the Swarovski App and doped the turret, 200 yard zero and dead on at 300.

Learned a lot, fireformed some 280 Nickle plated brass and after some misfires figured out the pistol powder/cormeal/crisco worked best. Did have the firing pin locking screw back out and caused my firing pin to move. Got that adjusted and locked back down, took a bit to figure out that right adjustment of firing pin protrusion and spring snap.

Got the new EMR II and loaded it up, had to see how it will hold a set of horns and cape. :)

Cool story and great list!! I hope to bring home a sheep this August... That pic of your spotting scope at the range looks like S. Cushman range, I frequent that place as well

How did you like the original Timberline pack?

I really like my Timberline Pack, my only beef with it is, that it "barrels" when really packed full and the spotting scope sleeve gets tight when the pack is full.

I do like the lay out of the EMR II better.
