and btw, the Buffalo Bore 440gr at 1715fps delivers 2874 FPE (if you can hit the moving target..)

Whatever you have is obviously better than nothing however those rounds have wondeful reviews I’d give them a shot if I were you and I’d certainly feel comfortable with them as a secondary

This brings up a good question/concern though…. Ported barrels mean more muzzle blast in the woods when you’re not typically wearing ear protection. I have a 1911 I considered doing a .460 Rowland conversion on instead of using the 9mm. However, ported barrel is mandatory and muzzle blast considerable.
Take a peek at 45super. No porting needed.

The biggest problem with porting is not the noise, you're gonna ring regardless....but muzzle flash. I load my defense loads to control flash more than velocity.

I've killed two bears up close and both were in fading light....the last thing I want is to be unable to see after the first shot.

Fwiw, I have killed a bear with a 10mm and personally carry a 9 with 147berrys for my personal defense choice.
