6th Gen 4Runners

Has on here anyone tried the new 4Runner? The turbo 4 outperforms the old 4.0 on paper but turbo gas engines are a mixed bag for longevity. There’s also the hybrid option (and the Land Cruiser) that would probably keep load off the gas motor but have its own issues.

I’ll be in the market for a wife vehicle / eventual hunting and fishing vehicle sooner rather than later. Still seems like a better option than a bronco or jeep

I don’t own one, but am close to buying one. I have owned an 11 and 16 gen 5. I have been going back and forth between Lexus Gx overtrail, Land Cruiser, and 4 runner. I don’t want the hybrid, so it rules out the Land Cruiser, although I like that vehicle the best. GX is just too expensive and fancy.
The 6 gen 4runner to me is really well done. I had reservations about the turbo 4, but in reality it seems to be a good engine. Sounds a bit wimpy, but who cares. Plenty of power. I don’t plan to tow with it. Seats are super comfortable and interior is well laid out. Large cargo area. After spending some time in one, my 16 now feels pretty outdated and sup par. And I didn’t think anything would ever match my happiness with the 5th gen.
