Has anyone ever tried loading reduced loads for a .243 for hunting purposes? Rifle, load, results on game? Trying to decide if it’s worth tracking down different powders.
I've used the Hornady Custom Lite loads in 7mm-08 for my son. Killed well and held good groups. Might be worth checking out the 243 version before you chase down new components.Has anyone ever tried loading reduced loads for a .243 for hunting purposes? Rifle, load, results on game? Holy Toledo! Nice work. Would it be too much to ask to put the bullet and velo...? J/K, but seriously.I'm unsure if this will be valuable to anyone, but here are Links to Animals Harvested on this post for quick reference.
That is an excellent spreadsheet. Thanks for sharing. Its a quick easy way to share 6mm terminal ballistics on animals. THANKS!I'm unsure if this will be valuable to anyone, but here are Links to Animals Harvested on this post for quick reference.

Wel.... 2nd lung didn't get hit. I'd like to know if it would have with a larger caliber.JVB cover your eyes!
Anybody here have experience with the 108 seconds?Midway has factory seconds on clearance. 87Vmax, 90 NBT, 103eldx, 108eldm all over half off new price.
Cheap 6mm range bullets.
*I'm assuming these are the bullets, as I couldn't find any other tipped bullet at that grain weight and caliber.
Anybody here have experience with the 108 seconds?
Heard of a couple reports of wildly varying ogive locations in the seconds which would make them a no-go for me. But if it’s just discoloration I’d buy a bunch of them…
Thanks man, very helpful. That’s better than I can shoot, surely.View attachment 808861
I’ve only ever bought one box.
And I don’t have factory firsts to compare to.
But I just pulled 22 out of box and measured.
For what it’s worth, I can get the caliper to vary .001” with the amount of force I apply.
So I’d call the +- on error .001
I want to do a similar build for hunting of deer as well. 6ARC shooting 108's out of a 20" barrel.First deer with my 22” barrel Howa Mini 6 ARC. 108 ELDM handloads 2675 FPS.
Doe was 250 yards. Double lung pass through with good entry and exit holes.
I’ll probably hunt with this little rifle exclusively. I watched the hit and exactly where the deer ran back in the woods.
