I worked up a post to put in here, finally, then something went awry with the photos. Will work on that, someday.
2 years ago I moved away from the 30-06 I shot deer, elk, bigorn, moose, and bear with for 40 years (all Barnes the last 32 or so) to the mighty 6.5 Creed. Wife moved from her 308 to 6.5 Creed.
We are shooting 147 eldms
2 years ago I killed a small muley at 155 yards, hit higher than I was aiming, spine, dropped in place. Pass through.
Last year I shot a small whitetail buck at 125 yards, behind shoulder, through lungs, bullet at off side hide. Deer trotted 30 yards and dropped. Cup and core were separated but close to eachother.
Shot a bigger whitetail buck at 80 yards, bullet passed through on broadside shot, buck turned and walked 10 yards and expired.
Wife shot a small whitetail buck at 50 yards. Behind the shoulder broadside. Same results as the previous 3 bucks. Went maybe 7 yards. (this bullet was found on offside hide after passing through shoulder)
This year wife killed a bigger muley buck, 157 yards, hit him high shoulder (steep uphill angle), passed through vertebrae/spine, bullet found above shoulder on far side. Cup and core separated but most of it there. Buck dropped at shot of course.
I shot a cow elk at 175 yards, slightly quartering away. Hit slightly higher than was aiming. She rocked at the shot, stood still and I watched to get a feel for if I needed to hit her again and within about 5 seconds she showed solid evidence of a mortal hit. 5 more seconds she went down and flopped around for 5 more seconds before being still. Bullet messed up both lungs, high. Bullet was found against off side skin after penetrating shoulder. Cup and core separated and sitting withing 1/2" of eachother.
Wife shot a nice bull, running straight at her at 8 yards. Hit off to the side, bullet between shoulder and body cavity. Bull veered off and ran 40 yards down the hill, stopping and turning broadside. Second shot went through near shoulder, then heart and stopped against the skin of the far side, behind the shoulder. He dropped at the shot. Cup and core separated by near eachother.
Have had remarkable consistency with these bullets. Looking SO forward to getting more of it! (although I'm barely resisting moving to 223 or 22 ARC!!)
