You can believe what you want all that you want, doesnt make it a fact, more energy, mass, and front diameter matters. If you feel the 6.5 cm is on par with the 3006 as an elk rifle then theres nothing more to discuss and Im not going to waste my time pointing out your flawed logic. 6.5 ha its place and its definitely a worthy cartridge when used appropriately

A CM will kill elk just fine. So will a .243 and even a .223 as another thread has proven at length. I personally believe there is less room for error with the smaller diameter cartridges simply based on what I have personally witnessed as a guide and hunter.

I chimed in above because the claim made was false. I honestly don't care what a guy hunts with as long as it is legal.

what makes this a fact? why are my arrows able to kill things, including elk? why can people kill stuff with homemade stick bows? why isn't my 54 cal muzzleloader with lead conicals the best killing weapon of all time? Is the 30/06 with ball ammo better than something smaller with a fragmenting bullet? Should we ignore hit rate probability when we select a hunting rifle? Should I hunt elk with my 50 bmg and LC ball ammo, or is my 6.5 creed acceptable?

There's a lot of good info in the other threads that have been referenced and linked throughout this one, and then there's the unsubstantiated opinions that some are throwing around as facts.

Arrows kill by cutting but since you bring that up....shoot a super light arrow traveling 200fps with a light weight low-profile field point and let me know how that works out since mass, energy and frontal diameter arent important.

You can hunt with whatever you want, it does not matter to me and if you have to come on here and beat your chest to prove to yourself that your opinion matters more than mine then have at it....enjoy your CM

If you want to bring arrows into it, why don’t you tell us the 300gr arrow and 575gr arrow are basically the same and you wouldn’t be able to tell the difference. Then we can start a new 9 pager!

so you want another optimization discussion where we can ignore pertinent factors to fixate on less significant ones?

I’m going to create a new cartridge using 6.5 Grendel Ackley-ized and match bullets and call it the 6.5 Knockdown.

I won’t argue the “6.5cm is enough” because I don’t know that you can actually prove it one way or the other. It’s like barrel break in, does it matter? Depends on who’s answering.

Maybe some think this is interesting, maybe not. Here is a screen shot from 2 videos from Barbour creek. The 6.5cm was 700 yards and the 300prc was 600. I screen shot at “maximum upset”. The 300 prc is in motion, even though it looks stuck in the chair. Picture 1 and 3 are prc.

Instead of now peeing sitting down you should have just rubbed some dirt on it and got on with things. I mean, all you did was bump your head for crying out loud.

So cartridge doesnt matter? Just the bullet? And I think what you meant to say is those actually matter to YOU!! You keep getting confused and thinking you get to tell other people what is important to them
