303 yards
Hornady Match 223 73gr ELDM
16" AR-15 with suppressor
~2000 fps per Hornady 4DOF

Caliber sized entrance and exit in the hide; 1.5" entrance and exit in the rib cage.
Almost zero blood on the ground but a 30 yard death run so tracking wasn't hard.
The shot was a little further forward than intended but it blew up the front of the lungs and the whole chest cavity was filled with congealed blood.

More on the theme of lots of types of well placed .224 caliber bullets kill. Another deer taken with a custom 52 grain Berger jacketed projectile. MV 3,250 fps. Quartering away high shoulder shot. Steep down hill. 180 yards. Dropped on spot as you would expect. Not a 77TMK but still impressive for a little bullet.
Autopsy pic shows entry point (high-lighted). No exit. Pic is of shoulder peeled back.

Man this has me thinking pretty hard, especially since my little Ruger American Ranch 16" is so sweet to shoot suppressed and is sub MOA with pretty much anything I've put through it.
It'll do 3 shot groups of 1" with Tula Russian crap ammo lol

Go for it! These Ruger rifles seem to shoot well above their price point. I have a 300blk RAR dedicated to subsonics and it is a hoot.

We expect some pictures soon.

I’ve been extremely happy with the function and accuracy of mine.

Alright, so I have Black Hills TMKs headed my way. Supposedly tomorrow according to UPS. Headed to the range with this thing Friday for a Muley hunt next week.

Say they don't get here. I can get ELD-M 73gr locally. Its that the play if the TMKs don't arrive?

Edit to add that I can get the Federal Fusion 62gr also. That may be the play

Don’t feel bad, they got me too. I cannot hunt with my usual rifle this season due to a medical issue, so I finally caved and got one after about two years of back and forth with myself. I think my wife felt bad for me as I was scrambling to rig up an AR for the season and she told me to just go and get it. Couple years of Cabelas points came in clutch.

How are you setting yours up?

Not going to comment on the price, as I have not tracked it in recent times… but in stock alert for Black Hills TMK.

By case:

And per box:

The magic number for free shipping appears to be $250. Godspeed.

I have Um rings coming tomorrow, hopefully. The old Howa has an SWFA 6X MOA that will be pilfered for the project.

If the UM rings don't make it, I have a Trijicon Credo 2.5-15x42 in UM rings on my kid's Tikka that will be borrowed for temporary service.

Both options sound great. My UM rings came very quickly. Big fan of them, very well made and quite beefy. It was nice to skip the rail setup on a rifle for a change. Good luck this season.
