2024 show your dogs success

Got out for a couple hours today and was fortunate enough to get a good mixed bag. Sharptail, hun and a limit of pheasant on the first Sunday of season. Dogs are already in midseason form.

OR upland opener over the weekend. The pup did pretty good for not having many bird contacts before this. Heading out on Friday for an upland road trip through MT & ND. Hopefully get her lots of reps on that trip.

Couple of highlights so far.

Top photo is the 5 month old setters first wild birds. We’re still working through bumping vs holding points on wild birds, but figured it out nicely on a handful of woodcock so far.

Second photo of my veteran springer with his trifecta of upland birds this past weekend.

Pigeons must smell bad, he won’t retrieve them yet. But he doesn’t miss a lick on doves, even retrieves them out of the pond.

He bloodtrailed a deer two weeks ago and did great. Treed a big coon that has been coming around the house and getting into stuff night before last, was on him like a bolt of lightning when I shot him out of the tree. Smart dog with the heart of a lion.

Hunting wisconsin for the first time with 2 puppies under a year old and a dog we didn't know much about. (Buddies dad got her for a preserve dog in NC) First day and a half. We flushed 37 birds today and connected with 3.
