It’s been a good grouse year for me! I’m mostly done with big game this year so it’s time to start chasing chukar!

Few more public land WI birds. All but one have been with one of my kids in the backpack so far.

Had a banner year at grouse camp.
Ended up shooting a full red phased bird which is in the freezer of my taxidermist. Super stoked to get that one back, best looking bird I have ever taken. Glad the grouse hunting has been so stellar because waterfowl has been absolutely dismal here.

Recent evening hunt after work. A nice covey of 12 huns were pinned in the grass about 35 ft in front of him.

Brought my .17 out for my first dedicated squirrel hunt of that season.

I didn’t strike out once at this spot last year, this time I didn’t see a single squirrel except for from the car

Got the new pup on her first pheasants (with us) this past weekend when I was at home. She did well, absolutely hammered both the retrieves for the birds we shot.

Got the Gordon on a few birds so far.

8 degrees felt like -12 they didnt fly in the morning but we scratched a couple honkers and one crazy snow goose. Have not hunted in the snow since its been so warm last few years it was fun.

Went down to SE South Dakota over weekend. Had a good time. Was chilly for this time of year but the hunting was good.

What part of WI are you in? I shot a lot of birds in overlooked pockets of public land around my parents when I was in HS (east side of the state between Winnebago and Lake Michigan).
