It's been good for me to track elevation the last few years. Made me make a conscious effort to run some steaper trails regularly. With the miles you put in I imagine the elevation would stack up in a hurry. One thing is for sure, not every trail mile is created equal! I'll end up running over 1,000 miles this year but I think the 200,000 ft. of elevation gain is more beneficial and something I'm more proud of in the end.

How are y’all tracking everything?
I use my Garmin Instinct to track workouts and then log everything into a spreadsheet from there. I could probably just use Garmin's apps/website but I enjoy logging it in the spreadsheet with notes about each workout, etc. kind if as a workout journal.

I used to use the mapmyrun app prior to getting the Instinct watch.

Yearly totals:
Running/hiking: 1,255
Biking: 549
Total: 1,804

On pace for over 2,100 miles. I lost out in my 18,000 push-ups due to the nerve injury, but I’m back doing to at least one set of 50 per day. Back in the weight room also. The goals have been very good to get me out the door for even marginal miles.

I use Gaiagps on my phone- gives me mileage, elevation, pace, etc (it's also a fully working mappable gps!)

Once I have a route gps'd, I make note of it and just use the numbers of a spread sheet- if it's a new route, just hit the tracking feature

I have a suunto gps watch that synchs to Strava, which keeps a mileage total. If I have my phone along, I can also track directly on my phone, thought it drains battery.

Great October for personal satisfaction almost 40 k elevation gain for the month and will blow away the 300k goal just shy of the 1500 miles so should make that.....one day chasing elk wish effort yielded results in my wolf infested jungles🤙

I'm 49 and have 3 boys, ages 10-16 years old. I use the Athlean-x body weight workout 4-5 days a week and some rucking w/ a 30 lb pile of bricks in my pack 1-2 time a week. I'm a RN by trade and don't wanna be one of those out of shape nurses; plus I want to be able to keep up with my kids.

OK month mileage wise- 165; 2/3 of those miles were with a 30-ish lb pack (and 6 miles with a 100 lb pack! :D) and bucking a lot of snow. Brings my total for the year to 1878, I think I might be a few miles ahead of my goal of 2020, but with no bigger trips in the works, not sure I'll make it- should be pretty close though.

Got several days in elk hunting and in the middle of the month connected with a small 5 point and was able to fill the freezer.

My strength training suffered during hunting season, but I'm getting back on track and have hit the gym twice a week the last two weeks.

My trail buddy, Tiny Elvis, recently suffered what I think is a shoulder strain so he's been on the injured reserve list the last 3-4 days (and probably a couple of more) so I've actually been running a lit bit and surprisingly has been pretty good :)

Nicely done @mtwarden, congrats on the bull!

Here's my update for the month:

Running Miles- 1,046
Hiking Miles- 237
Mtn. Biking Miles- 134
Total Trail Miles- 1,417 of 1,400 goal for the year
Total Elevation Gain- 192,900 of 175,000 for the year

I surpassed my goals for the year this month and I'm on track for over 1,500 miles and 200,000 ft. of elevation gain. I've had a nagging injury in my right glute for about a month and a half now so at some point I may have to make an adjustment and rest it a bit to heal but it's not so debilitating that I'm there yet. Overall I'm pleased with my efforts so far this year.

^Agreed, so great to see how folks have stuck with it. My mileage totals so far:
Running/hiking: 1346
Biking: 569
Total: 1915

I’m still on track, although the big mileage weeks are done for the year so I’ll probably barely squeak by. I didn’t keep track of altitude gain all that well, but what I did track shows around 81,000 feet.

This was a good year to have some goals to keep some consistency in the face of changing circumstances!

Despite the pandemic crap, 2020 was one of my best years fitness wise! :) December mileage was 169 miles which pushed me over my goal of 2020, 2047 total. I think my previous highest mileage year was 1800-ish miles. 200+ of those miles were on snowshoes, probably close to a 1000 of those miles were with a 20-30 lb pack on. Almost all of the miles contained a good dose of ascent/descent.

I did a good job of strength training twice a week this past month and was rewarded in gains across the board. I've also been pushing my chin-up/pull-up numbers. For some reason I stayed static with my three set reps, but started bumping them up. Hoping to get threes sets of 20 with both (strict, no singing stuff) and if I succeed with that I'll add a weighted vest.

Bring on 2021!

Took er easy during whitetail season and loosened up a bit on diet. We are getting rolling starting Monday with a cleaner diet again and a workout routine!

2020 was an interesting one for sure. The gym has never really been my thing so Covid didn't really affect my workouts much but it did kill off one of my goals as I wanted to run in a half marathon this year. I was signed up for two different trail half marathons before they were cancelled due to Covid. Otherwise it was a great year for outdoor exercise.

Trail Running Miles: 1,132
Hiking Miles: 262
Mtn. Biking Miles: 134
Total Trail Miles: 1,528
Total Elevation Gain: 209K

I started the year with a goal of 1,400 trail miles and 175K elevation gain but adjusted that up to 1,500 and 200K partway through the year as I was on pace fo well exceed the original goals. I'm still figuring out what I want to focus on for 2021 but it will be something similar to this year with the trail mileage and elevation gain. I may try and shift more miles to the bike or hiking over running but we'll see how it goes.

I hope everyone else made good progress on their goals and is motivated to push forward into the new year.

I got the wife to join me for a hike this morning to kick things off for the year. She doesn't enjoy it as much as me but I'm glad she'll join me on occassion.

Great work to all.

Like others, it was good year for me, fitness-wise. Only one injury—the weird arm nerve deal. Other than that, was consistent in mileage, consistent with weight training, didn’t miss a day for illness. Life is good, we’ll see what 2021 brings.

Total self-powered miles: 2,057
On foot (running/hiking): 1,458
On bike: 599
