I'm still on track but wish I had more hiking miles in at this point in the year. I do have a quick backpacking trip scheduled for August but I'd like to have more in before seasons start.
August is in the books for me; a pretty good month (despite the heat & smoke!) 163 miles and 40,100' of gain, which for the year is 1271 miles and 276,900'. I made the 250,000' goal mid month, we'll see what I end up for the year. I think I'm a little ahead on my mileage goal and typically October/November are pretty big months with rifle season on. Also have a trip planned at the end of this week trying to complete a full traverse of the Cabinet Mountain Wilderness area- ton of elevation gain (and loss) and 75% of it off trail.
Few highlights- we did a 30 mile traverse of the Elkhorn Mountains (bagging the five highest peaks) early in the month. My wife and I got several nice hikes in including bagging Red Mountain (Tiny Elvis too ) and I've been getting in a little scouting on a new deer area I'm looking at.

I'm still on track to reach my goals and my legs are feeling pretty strong going into hunting season. I got a more balanced month in with a backpacking trip and some other hiking. It's actually going to work out well that I've been doing more biking this year as we decided to use bikes pulling trailers to get into an area for elk this year. We did a dry run scouting and it's a brutal climb with a weighted trailer but if we get an elk the packout will be awesome pulling a trailer downhill.
I wish everyone good luck in their upcoming hunts through the next few months, stay healthy!
Pretty decent month overall - 154 miles and a good 44,900' of gain, bringing the year to 1425 miles and 321,800'. I'd say about 60 of those miles were with a 40 lb pack and just this week, a 55 lb pack.
Got some more scouting in and got a spectacular trip into the Cabinet Mountains Wilderness earlier in the month.
I've got a backcountry hunting trip planned in mid October and if that doesn't pan out than days off will be spent hunting.
My lifting went pretty good; mid month I switched to a lighter/higher rep regime for hunting season- keeping the weight between 65-75% of 1RM. I'll definitely lose a little strength over the next two months, but it usually bounces back pretty quick after hunting season.
Some of those Cabinet pics look familiar unbelievable views and scenery not many see Kept my running total at 400k elevation for 12 months…..time for fun the next two months

I'm still on track, even with missing a week of workouts while fishing in Alaska. That was fun, but not many miles logged in the process. I've been doing weighted pack hikes with 50 lbs. for my hiking lately, not tons of miles but all of them steep. I'm hoping to be ready to pack out an elk or two in the next few weeks, we'll see how things play out but October should be a fun one!

I'm still on track and October was a fun one. I helped pack a few elk out and just this past weekend got a nice buck and my son got his first buck that same day. I really appreciate staying on top of my fitness when packing meat, it makes it so much more tolerable with strong legs and good cardio. The freezer's full now, time to switch over to birds!
Pretty decent month for me- 163 miles and 35,200' of gain, bringing me up to 1588 miles and 357,000'- well over my 250,000' goal and appears I should have any problem hitting 1700 miles I've got out for a couple of shorter backpack hunts and helped pack one bull out- not mine, but still plenty of season left.
I did a bunch of weighted rucking in September and October and it's definitely helped. I switched up weight routine from 5/3/1 to a higher rep (lower weight) routine. Avoiding injury at all costs, but still getting some strength work in.
Had a pretty big month in November (helped that I had several days off of work!) 184 miles and 53,700' of gain, brings me up 1772 miles and 410,700' of the year- exceeding both goals I set at the beginning of the year.
I averaged probably 1.5 days/week at the gym, keeping weight down and reps higher; I'm sure I've lost some strength over the course of the last two months. With big game season over, going to hit Wendler pretty hard for the next 9-10 months (God willing).
Got a couple of 3-4 day trips in this past month, always good spending time in the backcountry! Tag soup with my elk, but harvested a decent deer.

No big game hunts for me this past month but I did get some upland hunting in both in Utah and South Dakota, mostly pheasants. I'm on track to surpass my annual goals. I want to get 1,000 Miles of trail Running in for the year, which should be easily attainable at this point and will take me over the 1,500 trail miles overall for the year.
A little shy for the month to stay at 400k for 12 months but should get back to it this month @mtwarden you set the bar very high not sure how I always walk more downhill than up
I wanted to break 1k# for DL, Squats and bench-press all while continuing to drop weight off my body. Started this morning @ 205# down from 215 in September.
405# DL
315# Squats
300# bench-press
Now that it's over I'll go back to my normal routine and focus more on functional fitness and stay injury free into the new year.
