I just called Noveske, their "limited rotation" option is actually a fixed 4 position.
Anyone else making an actual limited rotation QD cup for hollow stocks?
The GrovTech link you shared only has limited rotation for the threaded cup, their hollow stock option there only a 360 deg unit.
The impact weapons unit is interesting, it claims to be an 8 position limited rotation. Does that mean each position has a 45 deg of rotation?
Looking for some limited rotation QD bases for hollow plastic stock, to my surprise I am just finding GrovTech GTHM198 which is full rotation.
I am not real particular on the exact amount of rotation, somewhere in the 45 deg -180 deg range should be fine.
Any other suppliers that make...
For my spot and stalk hunting trips, I have started not loading my muzzy until I am ready to stalk in to something. It's so rare I bump a deer, bear, or elk I would want to take traveling too and from glassing knobs.
I too have been working on estimating what it will be in 2024 and beyond. I suspect the total number of applicants to stay the same (2022 and 2023 were basically the same), but a continued decrease in single point applications, which will of course trickle into the 2 and 3 point groups.
Thinking of kicking off on a gun project where I would like to have the stainless steel action, bolt, and barrel coated with a PVD (Physical Vapor Deposition) like diamond like carbon (DLC) but might be willing to do melontite, or similar.
Not looking for ceracoat/duracoat/things that are...
Looking to get a prefit barrel blank for my Tikka T3 superlite.
Stainless steel and preferably, the same or similar contour and fluting as my factory super lite.
Any recommendations?
I have heard mixed reviews about preferred barrel blanks and they don’t seem to offer the OEM tikka fluting...
Thanks guys, good info.
Right now this is what I am thinking:
-Short action customs internal receiver wrench for assembly.
-Haven't decided on which external action wrench, but planning on using that for disassembly of troublesome factory parts.
-Looking at either the short action customs...
Looking to get tooled on the action and barrel wrench/vice department.
Mostly for Tikka and savage 110.
Watching YouTube and it seems many guys struggle with the grip (parts slipping in their tools).
Willing to spend some money on tools that can do the job easily and professionally. Also I am...
I kept them and hunted mule deer in eastern MT in late November last year. temps ranged from about 8 deg F to just above freezing. I made due by putting chemical heaters in the toe, but they are not very warm. Butt dyno says they are at best equivalent to 400 gram boots.
I just bought a pair...
Something I should point out, is they already can make copper bullets expand at lower velocity's. The copper bullets (federal Bore Lok) I use in my muzzy have cuts to facilitate this. They open beautifully, I have recovered at least 5 bullets from animals ranging 75 yards to 10 ft with a...
The big jump I would like to see is higher pressure cartridges like the 277 SIG fury. It would benefit long range shooters as well as tree stand or still hunters. Long range guys could have their 800 yard shots with reasonable barrel lengths and the tree stand/still hunters could have a very...
I like them, easy to load and have killed two deer and a bear with them. Great terminal performance, recovered all bullets and for the most part they look just like an advertisement (perfectly opened up). I had to give a finishing shot to my bear at about a 10ft distance, recovered that bullet...
With primitive sights I can't convince myself a 45 cal is worth it over a 50 cal.
Federal Bore locks are a lead free option, I use them in my CVA MR with an accuracy of about 2MOA. Hopefully going to mess with powder and get that more accurate.
I keep items for an immediate reload in a stock pack, but I want a possible bag to keep in my backpack that is better organized with my other muzzy tools and such.
What are people's favorites?
Looking at the kifaru possible pullout at the moment. I like the fact they have three compartments.
165 grain 30-06 shoot great out of my old savage 110.
One pencil though mule deer at about 300 yards (recovered). Devastating damage to a blacktail at 100 yards and rosie elk at 50 yards. The scene around the blacktail looked like a horror movie, blood everywhere and an exit hole almost fist...
Sounds like more development work is needed then. Or at least the trade off discussion of various metrics (i.e. muzzle velocity vs noise).
It seems highly unlikely an optimized integrated solution shouldn't be able to have improvements over a modular approach.
In my career as an engineer, the...
