Tough choice for me. Developed carpal tunnel in my right hand. So I’m waiting on surgery. Simple outpatient process four week recovery mainly for facia to heal. I’ll start back with my 48 pound thunderchild and move up to my 52lb thunderchild and maybe my 55 lb stalker. Or one of my own I built.

I got some new dark timber arrows from big Jim. I’m pretty impressed with them so far. I’ve shot CX heritage 250’s for a little over 20 years.

Shooting these trad bows can be hard on a guys body…I have a wrist thing ….and woke up this morning with my middle finger twice the size….aaaarg

So how do you do that GLB? Do those have the exact same trajectory and same point of aim?

That really screwed me up in the past flip-flopping between bows with different trajectories.

I have to keep the gaps close to switch back and forth. The longbow’s PO is 24 yards and the RC is 30. Also I really gapstinctive so that helps if I don’t hard aim. On the recurve grip I grind it down and put a rubber sure grip on it so I can hold it like I do my longbows.

The back end feel of the Tradtech limbs have a similar feel to a longbow and that helps with switching back and forth. Most people want smooth with a let off feel on the back end but I fall apart.

How did I start this…by saying I wasn’t going to flip flop? Grin

I had a set of Nika longs 50# (direct from Nika-$280) ordered and they came in. They scale 60# at 30.5” DL on this 19” riser. I did a quick setup, here at 57#, and shot. This is the second round with these limbs….I had to shorten my gaps for the higher poundage.

Pretty nice for the $$, dead quiet and very low vibration on the shot, they seem to stop dead. I can’t say if they are any faster than my Uukha limbs…but pretty nice.

I will say the limb dampeners sold by Nika could be the best I’ve used….I’m wishing I would have cut mine in half

Not a great group at 20y but its the second group ever after adjusting my gap on the fly, about 1/2” vs 3/4” with the 51#/ Selenghas.

I get why it's named what it is, but at the same time that setup is absolutely 100% perfect!

Where'd you get the leather for the grip? I've been looking for some like that. Croc embossed is sort of similar, but I want something more like you have there.

You're right, thanks! Big Jim's is out of stock currently but now I know what I'm looking for.

I’ve seen it other places too. 3 rivers used to have it not sure if they still do. Primitive archery supplies does or did. Just google foo beaver tail leather and beaver tail leather bow grip. One of those should get you some. Big Jim has a great video on doing one, also. Good luck!

Yep, this was a L beaver tail from Big Jim's. Not sure if you can see it in the pics, but I folded each end about 1/4" and glued it down (top and bottom) before stitching it on. Not sure about the other smaller size, but there's definitely not enough left over for another grip. Plenty left for a few rests and side plates, though.

Yeah, I looked a little yesterday (even half-heartedly looked at the MN beaver trapping regs ) and it looks like if you got a really big tail you could do a couple grips but mostly just one per.

My stalker Coyote FXT. 62” one set of limbs 45# @ 28”. The other set 50# @ 28”. Axis 340 75 grain brass insert. Either 125 or 150 Kudu broadhead.

You can get beaver tail leather off of Etsy too if you want to make your own grip.

I shoot a Wild Horse Creek Mariah with 525gr Gold Tip Nugents (because why not!). I played with a lot of arrow setups and settled on that for general hunting. I do have some GT Trads that are 850gr if I need to shoot a bigger…
