Interested in hearing how your arrow tune worked out. I have another ILF rig that I am setting up that has similar specs as yours. So far I am in between a 500 and 400 spine arrow depending if I want to go short and light or long and heavier.I try to stay dialed in by shooting most days and competing in 3D.
48 lb CD Archery WF19/Hoyt limbs. Easton Axis arrows and usually 3 blade VPAs. Total arrow weight is about 470 grains. Also key are a Mountain Muffler string, Sel-Way quiver & awesome Yost tab.
God Bless.
Are you sure Hoyt had anything to do with that riser? My understanding was that it was just a rebadged DAS riser with ILF fittings. I know for a while that backland riser was offered with Sky limbs. Sky was started by Earl Hoyt Jr after he sold Hoyt Archery to Easton, but then was later sold to Mathews after he passed away.This spring I am shooting this Hoyt 15” Ilf riser (original bivouac backland) with das longbow limbs. Roughly 53@28” drawing to 29.5. Flinging Easton aftermath 300 with 3” 3 fletch trad vanes, tipped with a grizzly 200gr Broadhead.

That's just my curiosity talking, regardless of which, it looks like you've got a solid setup.
Yeah looks like the DX5 to me too. Good luck this spring. What are you after?My knowledge is only based entirely off the guy I bought it from. I had been craving a dx5 or backland. This one I picked up used for a song, and it has no markings to determine manufacturer. It looks identical to the das dx5 though, so I could be completely wrong in the matter. But it shoots good!
It’s a full length Axis 400. I’ve shot the same arrow in the WF with up to 200 grain points. I do this by taking weight out of the limbs. I’ve settled on a little higher weight and lighter arrow for less arrow drop while still heavy enough for good penetration. I had complete penetration on 2 whitetail using 125 grain 3- blade VPAs, extremely sharp of course.Interested in hearing how your arrow tune worked out. That’s a beautiful bow, what is it and what spine are you usingI'm shooting a 45@ 26" longbow, and I have 100 gn. inserts with 200gn points for a 600gn total arrow weight.
Thanks! It's a Centaur Archery custom job - Jim Neaves makes some of the best. I followed the spine calculator allowing for a heavy head and I was probably on the cusp between 400 and 500, but I figured with a heavy head it would be better to go with 400, especially as I don't care if my arrow is a little long and I was going to tune anyway. So I did 400 full length shafts and tuned them in to 28 1/2" where they shot well.That’s a beautiful bow, what is it and what spine are you using
It’s hard to not tinker, I have too many bows that I like to shoot.Still tinkering….
I think I’m going to shoot that BT riser and Selengha longs above. Scales at 50/51#
2 arrow BS tune;
6.2mm 300’s cut 31.5” with 75g insert and 145g head, TAW 504g
or 6.2mm 350s cut 31.25”, 16g insert, 125g head, TAW, 392g
That 390g has some speed to it….and extends my PO past the 38y of the 504g, probably out to 50y. Whats crazy is my 20y gap is close to the same with both arrows but at 30y my gaps are much different…way bigger gap with the fast arrow. Noisier too But not too bad.
i’m refletching the 504s….I need to quit tinkering and will will probably stick with the 504s.
Yeah but….IMO, these trad bows aren’t like just picking up a compound or a rifle and shooting it well.It’s hard to not tinker, I have too many bows that I like to shoot.
