your good (or not so good) customer service interactions of late

Called a place in early October to come clean the chimney. They said they would call me back after coordinating with their cleaning guy. Never heard from them until today. 5 months for a callback. In the meantime, bought a brush and did it myself.
I hate cleaning my chimney so much that I started limiting my use of the wood burner. Luckily it is fairly easy to do if you have the brush and extensions.

Spectrum internet, streaming tv, mobile phone service has the best CS of any company I have ever dealt with and I’m 70.

Well....... We had cable & internet with them for years. I was sick of the price going up $3 one, $4 another month, eventually doubling in price AND all along new customers (not the ones that have been doing business with years) got a cut rate deal. I called and tried to get that better deal, they wouldn't do it.

Got an antenna and a few cheap streaming outfits and cut the cord, all of a sudden they wanted to offer me a good—told to pound sand.

We still have their internet and no complaints about the service I'm receiving, but it's almost doubled as well ($2 here, $4 here on and on) AND new customers get a screaming deal for internet, guaranteed for a year.

As soon as we get a new internet company in my area, I'll be giving them the boot yet again.

In the old days, long and loyal customers would get the screaming deals :(

If you’ve got a mostly clear view of the sky, could always do Starlink. I know there’s mixed opinions about it, but we have it and we love it! We got when we were full time RV’ing and still have it, it’s currently partially covered by our balcony but still works great. It’s $120 for the residential plan, which is more than most but if we ever decide to travel again, we’ve still got internet! You can pause and start up the service at any time as well.

Also, it survived a 12 ft drop off the side of our RV and then a 10 ft drop, suction cups gave out each time, but it still works great, I was expecting it to not work anymore after the first drop but it still works after 2 drops.

The lodge we stayed at (when we weren't backpacking) in the Brooks Range had Starlink and it worked really well. I was very impressed and not expecting to have good (or any) internet above the Arctic Circle :)

I had a not so great customer service experience with Seek Outside almost a decade ago. I've continued to be a customer because they make great stuff. I recently had an issue with the foam getting all jacked up in an older hipbelt, and I emailed them about it with a little bit of trepidation due to my previous experience. They turned out to be super helpful and responsive, and they replaced my hipbelt with no problems at all.

Bad experience with Aero Precision. I ordered a Souls LA they had on sale and in stock on Dec 26 and I am still waiting for it to ship. No one answers the phone and no reply to emails. Even posted on thier Facebook page, still no response. Never had an issue before, untill recently. Never again and will not reccomend, no matter how good the product.

Exped. I bought a Downmat in 2017 and last season the connector on the end of the schnozzel pump bag came delaminated. I didn’t want to spend $50 on a new pump bag so I emailed them asking what glue they recommended for repairing it. They responded in one day and told me what glue to use and said they’d really like to send me a new bag as well. Zero questions asked.

Ramsey winches. This was a few years ago, I bought an old broken Ramsey winch at a farm auction for next to nothing. Got ahold of Ramsey asking about replacement parts. They told me none were available, but if I sent them the old one, they would send me a brand new model for no charge. Received a $1,200 winch from them. I'll never buy another brand.

Leupold, good service
Had a 3.5-10x40 Vari-X 111 that wasn't adjusting properly or holding zero.
Sent it in they replaced it with a new 3.5-10x50 (I haggled :) ) VX3-HD

OnX, good service with a slight however
Couldn't log in. Couldn't reset my password.
After checking on Rokslide I was given a # to call and a gal whose first
language is English was very pleasant and helpful
The 'however' is because I couldn't find any contact info.

Had a very good customer service interaction with Frankford Arsenal recently. Bought a case trimmer and prep center from Scheels and found that the trimmer adjustment lock ring on the case holder had been cross-threaded, could not budge it. I requested a new shaft and lock ring and they sent me an entire new case prep center. Very happy with them and will continue to buy their products.

Baker Archery Products. I had an issue with their bow vise and sent an email. Within an hour the owner contacted me, got my info and had a replacement part shipped.

I had great CS from Kowa recently. It was my second time using them and both times went well.

Terrible CS from MSR/Cascade design. Took 3 months to get a response and had to get that from unorthodox methods. Sounds like I’m not the only one with issues with them.

Can I just say.....Amazon is going to take over the world. Everything from them is easy peasy- return, no problem.

I didn't use Amazon, instead bought a replacement Zipper from a Zipper outfit. It was crap....and sure they took it back but it cost me $6,30 to ship it to them

Sig was great recently. I have some Sig range finding binos that I dropped and broke an eye piece. They sent me a shipping label to send them in. They fixed them at no cost and did a complete inspection then sent them back on their dime.

Just checking if you burn it out regularly, AKA "letting it rip!", every few times you start it up.
28 years here and never needed cleaning.
Lodgepole pine here, very dry also. If I burn ponderosa it really needs to get burned out regularly.

I do let it rip pretty hard each time I use it. When I burn lots of birch it burns hot and fairly clean. When I burn a lot of spruce it’s more resinous and dosent but out as much heat until you really have it stoked up. It’s amazing the difference I can tell in how fast the house heats between spruce and birch.

I bought through a reseller and cancelled my order. Love the Solus I have though.

Had to find a replacement QR buckle for an old Kifaru Express I still like. Kifaru put me in touch with Ralston Cunningham Associates, Inc., and they still had a few of the buckles. Emailed back and forth, and they sent out a couple of buckles, included an SASE for the fifteen bucks cash we agreed on. All good, great folks and I'd absolutely keep them in my list for pack and gear repair parts.

Kinda nice to see that level of customer service still exists.
