Yes and demand continues to keep moving up.
Bump up the resident prices and dump NR. Go for it.I almost wonder if they wouldn't be better served by dumping non-resident antelope licenses all together.
Not sure if the last paragraph was in reference to FL turkey or WY goats. But, the problem is not turkey populations in FL. The issue is that NR aren't capped at a certain % on public land draw hunts. In a state with 20+ million people it is ridiculous that on south Florida WMAs non-residents are out numbering residents 2:1. I have the data and would be happy to share if you'd like.Bump up the resident prices and dump NR. Go for it.
They are starting to be jerks down here over the osceola turkeys - want to cut the NR tags. Can see how it pisses someone off to drive by a hunting place on the way to work and not be able to hunt it but every 5 years cause of NR hunters.
What they need to do is shut down the season for a couple of years and let them recover but most guys won't let that happen. "gotta hunt" of will die. LoL!
I live in FL. Deaf, not into turkeys. 3+ yrs wait for a nearby deer quota permit. Cant even go duck hunting anymore cause of fwc spraying all the weeds. Not sure if the last paragraph was in reference to FL turkey or WY goats. But, the problem is not turkey populations in FL. From what I’ve seen Pronghorn is viewed by a lot of residents as a second class big game animal and they don’t usually get a fraction of attention deer or elk tags do. I’m not sure there would be much gain to be had there.I almost wonder if they wouldn't be better served by dumping non-resident antelope licenses all together.
They can draw tags, it’s just those tags require boot leather and navigation app to hunt pronghorn. That is not a thing. The reason they don't get attention is because they can't draw tags.
Any good yellow high BLM unit on a map has 300%-700% more applicants in the resident pool than tags.
Maybe five or 10% of Wyoming residence are willing to do thatThey can draw tags, it’s just those tags require boot leather and navigation app to hunt pronghorn.
I'm a non res hunter and that those numbers are insane. I strongly believe states should care for their own residents but just hoped to get one antelope as the opportunity is available in Wyoming since my states pretty near impossible to draw an antelope tag. Better odds of drawing bighorn or a mountain goat than you have drawing an antelope. Hopefully the Wyoming herd recovers quickly but again I'm all for states taking care of their own while managing for appropriate license quotas.2017; 56,445 Pronghorn license quota
2024; 30,155

I wonder what their management objective is.The Antelope herd is not going to recover by any significant amount.
The Dept estimated the Herd at 320,000 in 2023, 10 years beyond the graph.

I did my first antelope hunt in 2024. It was the easiest hunt I have ever been on. They were everywhere.

Plenty of good antelope hunting to be had with those points.
That’s all the info I’m willing to provide.
