Nope, he’s new, but spot on. It’s an impressive read of personality from a single post. Buzz is one of many people I was referring to.

Furthermore, I have no idea who that guy is, but he’s simply stating a fact. He isn’t defending the ranches, just stating that their value will decrease if precedent is set that corner crossing is legal. He correct and I have no sympathy for the ranches.
Well… thanks for clearing that up. 🤣

Something interesting, and related. Not all private landowners use the checkerboard to block public access to public land. Some even allow the public to hunt on their land as well as allow access through it.

I’ve made friends with a rancher who owns a medium sized ranch with two chunks of land locked state land. He allowed me and a hunting partner to hunt lopes free of charge several times. There are some great ranchers that still allow access.

There sure are. Northern WY has a good chunk of access. OnX even has a map layer that highlights these areas. I’ve killed a dear on access yes land in NW WY and hunted turkeys on the same type land in NE WY. You don’t even need to ask permission, just be respectful of the land and follow some basic common sense rules. There are ranchers out there that are actually ranching for a living.

How much did land values decline in Montana on rivers and streams when public stream access passed?

Please show your work...

Certainly if public access causes decline in land value, it should be a noticable in Montana's land values at the time it passed.

I think it would affect the value of a small subset of ranches that contained a lot of corner accessible public. They certainly market all the corner and landlocked public when they go up for sale. Be a fairly difficult thing to quantify. Ultimately though who gives a shit? Unless of course you profit off the privatization of a publicly held resource.

I’ve posted this before already but the description is very common by realtors to sell for a higher price.

Hi buzz, you twat. With that law every landowner along a river or stream was impacted. If corner crossing was legal it would effect certain ranches differently. I'd love to be able to corner cross just fyi
You’re new here and need some advise, name calling will get you banned. Or even worse, for all of us, get this thread locked and stop further discussion. Don’t be that guy please.

I haven’t read the last five pages, but I hope this gets corner crossing legalized nation wide. I believe it would solve some of the crowding issues here in MT.

Maybe additional access would help with elk populations being over objective (according to FWP), as the underlying issue seems to revolve around elk getting to places people can’t get to them. I think it would help more than all the other changes they proposed (or passed) this year.

Not being able to corner cross makes absolutely no sense to begin with.

I believe he's on a vacation from Rokslide. I've been here longer than anyone except the two guys who started this place and the direction it's going doesn't give me the warm fuzzies. If people would research before they debated a subject, things would go a lot smoother.

Or……. Maybe some members stop being jags and converse like normal humans. Stop with the arguing just to argue. These conversations would be a lot more civil if one or two very specific people were gone. Pretty much any opinion not aligning with a few select wy residents gets responded to with attitude, snakiness, or straight up disrespect. Dollars to doughnuts I get a laughing emoji from one of the top culprits.

I hope this gets resolved I could have shot a 350" bull in area 7 a couple years ago had corner crossing been legal 🙂 unfortunately all I could was stare at him through my binos...
