I was thinking a good set of tools would be at least in the top 3

That wouldn't help most of America's men these days, they wouldn't know how to use them or what to use them on.

I guess the same could be said for a gun or knife as well, but I'm sure today's inner-city youth would even put both of those near the top of the list however. So not sure where this list came from.

Years ago in the army we would have to use posthole diggers and shovels to bury explosives anyway it was funny to have to spend time trying to train guys the proper/ most effective way to use a shovel. 18+ years old and never used a shovel. Some never could get the concept of the clamshell digger.

How many times have you heard grown men say, " I have to see if my wife will let me" or " My wife won't let me go" Come on guys get your balls out of her purse.

Another example of degradation of standards: my wife, who is a good bit younger than I, thinks its absurd that I demand my children to address adults as Mr., Mrs., sir, and ma'am.

That's great and shows a lot of respect. Growing up I always thought my dad was strict on me. Looking back as a dad now, I wish he was even more strict to me as a kid.
