Would you buy this scope?

In this case thats not even the deal, they are not offering a pre-sale given the hassles from the rokstock. Its their customers asking for one.

I get the notion of wanting to get your name on a list (pre-order) what I roll my eyes at is any retail customer thinking it benefits themself in any way to pay for an item that does not yet and may never exist as a consumer product (pre-sale).

Edit: removed some unkind and unproductive comments

what I roll my eyes at is any retail customer thinking it benefits themself in any way to pay for an item that does not yet and may never exist as a consumer product (pre-sale), from a company that already has a track record of turning customer money into not much more than personal items for themselves and their "testers".

what?

I dont know what to tell you, dont order one then.

Every dollar I have spend with UM has been money well spent and they have always been super clear about uncertain timelines when they are uncertain.

I also run a business and perhaps have a bit more understanding of unexpected challenges that can come up. I have never seen any indication that they did anything other than their best to make things right with their customers.

I was referring specifically to the fairly long time period when Ryan, Jake, Form, and their associates had multiple rokstoks each while pre-paying customers had none.

What the **** are you talking about? How about don’t make up or lie about things.

Are you under the impression that they all had final-version, production stocks? Or do you think they had pre-production stocks for T&E (and/or the very first production stocks for QC)?

If I had to go out on a limb I'd guess that if they started shipping stocks that had significant functional problems because they didn't have a bunch of field time on pre/early production stocks you'd accuse them of using customers as beta testers, but I could be wrong.

They kinda did both though… Which calls into question how effective all that beta testing really was when whole production runs were getting scrapped instead of shipped.

Totally true. Trying your best and doing a good job are not interchangeable, though.

I will rephrase. They did a good job.

As I recall the guys who ordered the green camo that didnt work got a full refund and a different stock.
