Would you buy this scope?

Supposedly $999. That's what Jake said on one of the recent podcasts. I might have to make a trip to Salt Lake for hunt expo to see it in person and the rokstok lite
I think in the last podcast, Jake clarified by saying that's what they're still aiming for (with the implicit suggestion that they could come in slightly higher).

Given as a lot can happen before things get to market, I'd cut them some slack if they went up.

I personally think the 'guardrails' would be set by the closest competitors - the LRHS 2 at $959 and the RS1.2 at $1200 (now $1400, which seems less justifiable).

Is it still expected to be revealed at the SHOT show?
It's unclear. They said on the podcast the prototypes would be "picked up" at Shot Show.

Neither UM or S2H have a booth, so unless it's at the manufacturing partner's booth they might just be in Jake's and Ryan's backpacks, lol.

SLC expo it sounds like they'll be at a booth for sure.

No. I took the podcast comments to mean that a lot of companies were making very healthy profits when compared with production costs. Maybe I need to listen to it again?

For me, has to come in at or below the magic number or it’s a non-starter. It’s made in the same factory as the SWFA 3-15x and 3-9x. It’s going to be a tough sell to me to convince me that this is worth twice as much as one of those.

I decided I would not go off memory. Discussion of the scope is at 35:44, but interrupted by a Stocky’s ad:

I am not concerned if it’s made by Santa’s elves. Not sure if @Formidilosus or @Ryan Avery or Jake of Um is Santa or the elf? I just need it to perform to the stated requirements. It is then a jump ball based on features vs price against the competition of S&B, NF, Maven and Trij

SWFA is out of contention as they do not offer enough features to compete. I still have a few of them, but there are better options with more features in the market.

People want to act like big margins are a bad thing. They aren't. The whole point of starting an actual business is to be profitable. If a consumer feels that they are getting good value for their dollar, that's the end game. Volume also drives margin. The more you sell, the cheaper you can sell it and keep your margin where you want it.

Folks never want to hear it, because they think that what they want is what everyone wants. It's not. This forum is the 1% of the market. The other 99% of the market doesn't really give two shits about the stuff that this collective group does. The lastest stat on gun ownership in the US is 82.8 million people own at least one gun.

What's the membership on here? A miniscule amount of that total, and out of the membership on here, how many want a scope like this? Again, a miniscule amount, honestly. It's the same folks posting over and over about it on here. There're around 15 million registered hunters, based on license sales. So out of the total of gun owners, 20% of them are hunters. Out of 15 million hunters, the 1% is 150,000. A drop in the bucket. Let's say 500,000 want a scope like this.... that's still only 3.2%. of HUNTERS. Even say 1.5 million... that's still only 10%. Out of that 82.8 million gun owners, it's .006% (based on 500,000) that want a scope like this. THAT is why the big optics companies don't directly address OUR needs/wants. In the grand scheme of things, we are a grain of sand in the desert. It's the niche companies that need to jump on this, because it CAN make a big difference to them.

Out of 15 million hunters, let's be honest. 7 or 8 million (at least) of them make a box of 20 rounds last 4 or 5 years. LOL. They don't want or need a durable scope, because they don't want to spend the money on it #1, and #2, they aren't shooting enough to hit much past 250 yds anyways.

I know many hunters, some with rather nice equipment, that think I'm certifiably insane for shooting a couple hundred rounds of .223 over the course of a month.
