Anyone know if there's any internal organization to the woodsman like a MR longbow has? Or is it just a slick bag inside?

Waiting on Aaron to release a video.. maybe some interior pics on kifaru site as well. Doesn't look like there is internal organization..

Reckoning videos are up on YouTube. No inside shots but I'm pretty sure the bag only has a chamber pocket inside.

would like to see some woodsman vids. im sure they are coming.

I am a big Kifaru fan, but i think they over engineered the shit out of the reckoning. They tried to smash everything they could into the design of that bag. I am also not a fan of the new lid attachment. Just seems there is ALOT of moving parts and intricacies to something that is just meant to carry a bunch of shit.

Not sure I understand how intricate a kclip hooked to two built in loops is?

The whole bag not just the lid.

When that bags empty the lid is going to hang like shit as you will have the length of the buckles in the way, the top won't suck tight to the frame like I can with my current guide lid with ladder locks on it. Guaranteed the guide lid covers the entire zipper when not much is in it. If I need to use the meat shelf I need to remove a couple buckles from the bag and move them to the frame. "Undo this, undo that, hook this up now". For ME it's to much. No need to have the straps that attach to the lid movable up and down the daisy chain either. The less shit I need to fiddle with the better.

I get what was being done, but in doing so I feel like to many concessions were made to include "everything". Especially the meat shelf.

My hat is off to Kifaru for always trying to make a bag based on the opinions and comments that they receive from their customers. It's such a fine line, people want attributes that the EMR II has (center zip) but don't want to mess with the straps, other people want lightweight but also a center zip. Guys like Aron like to carry meat in the main bag, but another group want a meat shelf. I know Kifaru really takes all of the "wants" of the customers and tries to incorporate them into the new packs.

I personally think they really tried to take everything into consideration with both these packs. I truly hope they sell well and hit it out of the park with them.

I will say they pretty much have an option for most people now, even if it doesn't appeal to me, that is the new bags.

I have been running a Tahr with guide lid and a medium pocket and organizer pocket on the front of the bag. Small pocket and medium pocket on the belts for whitetail. I like it very much but the one issue I was having is that while in the stand I better not have anything in the main pouch I will need unless it is on top.

With the woodsman I could lose the guide lid and run a spotting scope pocket on one side for my large thermos and bow hanger. Run my organizer pocket on the built in lid and two mediums on the other side. I can put everything requiring immediate access in the organizer pocket and medium pockets and spotting scope pocket. Then stuff my excess clothes and rain gear in the bottom of the main compartment and use a medium pullout for smaller items on top of that as well as sandwiches or snacks for long sits. That way if I end up needing something from the main bag just a little zip and I have it fast and easy. This could set up very nice for tree stand hunting and be a very small and balanced package overall.

I'm betting that you don't run a Nomad then? 😉

I love my nomad. Three straps in day pack mode and no lid needed.

I will pick up a woodsman for summer/scouting and maybe weekend trips.

A little bit of Velcro tape to keep the excess strap length in check and it is awesome. Built in spotter pocket plus spots to stash trekking poles etc. I add a side zip long pocket below with kill kit and grab it inside. You are packing two quarters in no time with this setup.

That said I want a woodsman too!
