Wisconsin wolf season!

Yea I would say that reinforces the fact that there's a wolf problem! Given that the left will try to stop this I'm glad it got ran, but I'm guessing if allowed in the future it will be on a tag system instead of a quota. . .

The thought of eating dog especially wild dog iffy. Stop being so virtuous and realize this is a man made blight and we are stuck with these cocksuckers.

Most were killed with hounds. You put 100 groups of hounds men in mid west woods and it's no problem killing a 200 wolves in three days. Especially if those same guys have experience killing coyote with hounds. As long as you can get into the dogs you can kill em.

We have several groups of guys that run coyote almost daily near me and they rack up crazy numbers every year. I wouldn't put much stock using the 200 number killed as barometer.

In any event hopefully the state gets a better handle on the season and quota.

one group of hound hunters I know had 5 dogs killed by 1 big male wolf they never did get wolf, shot 3 wolves in there group

1900?...don't they claim like just over 1,000? high number killed with dogs but still pretty good considering short notice on the hunt. I would still say it is a good indication that the population is much higher than they are telling.

Now think how MN is fairing with DNR estimating 2700ish

LMAO.....MN at 2700, Try Triple that Number at Best. The MN DNR Website Lists the Wolf Population around 2000 to 3000 for for quite some time. As the Apex Predator that's hard to believe.

Kind of Weird they don't list the Pack of Wolves they dropped into Camp Ripley years back, that has completely devastated the Deer Population inside their as well. That used to be a Huge Archery Only Lottery Draw for Trophy Whitetail Bucks for years, For Hunters all over the Country trying to get in there to Hunt. 3-4 Years ago they couldn't even give the Camp Ripley Bow Permits away.

MN needs to manage it's wolf Population Now through Hunting and Trapping, Of course we won't be able to use Dogs like in WI.

I'm with you on the MN estimate...I was simply comparing what the two game departments post as numbers.

If you looked at the map of radio tracked packs there is consistently a pack marked on the map in the Ripley area. And the Ripley hunt was a sh!t show and hardly a Giant Buck factory (not that some didn't come from there).

I live in MN and have a cabin minutes from Ripley...wolves were in that area since the late 90s and are far outside of it now extending down to the northern suburbs and Interstate 94 in the Alexandria area. For an APex predator it is not hard to believe the numbers don't just skyrocket but shoot up and then flat line. Not saying the original estimate was right or that the flat line is 3,000ish but I doubt it is double.

WCB, I've lived in MN my whole life, have Relatives up in the St. Mathias area near Camp Ripley and have deer hunted up there for years. Wasn't trying to knock you in any way. I now have my own land up near Moose Lake, MN and I've got Wolves on Trail Cam there too. I know a Private Outfitter down by Winona, MN SE MN that has leased Farms for years now just on the other sided of the River from Buffalo County WI and has Wolves on Cam there too........I've even got Wolves on Cam near Merrifield, MN too. There all over. They simply follow their Food Supply....Just simply stating that it's now time MN Manages the Top Apex Predator before Too Many little $1K Purse Dogs in the Cities go missing.....Wait, maybe that's what needs to happen.....
