Why no love for Kuiu packs?

Not sure I agree with that. Hunters don't vote for liberals. Or do they? Shame on you if you do. Remember, there is no such thing as a democrat anymore. Only liberals and socialists........

I hear ya, and I'm not trying to make this (or any) post political. I was just acknowledging the fact that I have seen posts where people have expressed frustrations on Haristons political affiliation. Thats all.

The only people that should be ashamed of how they vote -- is when they check the box of someone just because of the column thier name is in. If your not picking the best person for the job YOU are the problem the system isn't working.

I’ve had a Kuiu Icon Pro for two years and have been very happy with it so far. I’ve been kicking around the idea of buying a Kifaru or Exo just to try something different. But that’s not because of any problems I’ve had with the Kuiu. It’s been a solid pack for me. I use it mainly for day hunts, and haven’t hauled a real heavy load. So I can’t speak to the comfort with a lot of weight.

I hardly think that because I chose not to vote for Hillary, Obama, and Jimmy Carter that I'm part of the problem. My only problem are liberals and socialists. Which coincidentally align with democrats. Show me an argument that disputes that and I'll consider it. However, you'll have to do a better job of convincing than Pelosi and company that's for sure. You want to align with them? Be my guest.

I don't care who you vote for, it's your choice and the fundamental right of every American. I'm saying if you check the box and vote strictly down the line your Lazy and that is the reason we have people that spend thier entire life doing nothing besides attending fund raisers and pointing fingers.

The majority of Americans don't read down past the first two choices on the ballet. Don't even know the names by either box as the names for state and local representation. If you can only check the top box on the ballet because you couldn't pick which are the Democrat and which are Republican without them being labeled, I personally don't think your voice should not count. Alas I don't get to make the rules.

I think you vastly over step your bounds when you tell someone what thier beliefs have to be to a "hunter". That's not what Rokslide is about.

I've been researching for a pack purchase coming up for Elk trips in the future. I'm looking for a daypack/overnighter with good potential to haul meat. The most revered bags on Rokslide seem to be #1 Kifaru after that Stone Glacier, Exo, Seek Outside, and then MR is up there but always stated they are heavy for their capacity. Why no love on here for Kuiu? They seem like they have a nice layout/design, well padded suspension, are reasonably priced, and are also lightweight. What gives?
Could be fit problems. Try on as many as you can before you just buy one off of someones reply. You make the choice. You’ll be buying and wearing the pack.

I have had the same question and from my research the early KUIU packs had a lot of problems and went through a lot of changes. They have been greatly improved with their recent packs but its hard to shake the name form the early years.

I get the impression that 90% of what you read on the internet about hunting and fishing - yes, even on Rokslide - is just someone repeating what someone else said. A giant game of telephone. How many people who say “jackrabbit is terrible” have actually tried it, for example.
I suspect that might apply here. “I recall reading some time in the past about a Kuiu that broke during a pack out... ” is exactly that kind of response. I’m not saying it isn’t true, but I will say beware second-hand (or third- or fourth-hand) information.
Perhaps a more useful question would be to ask current and past Kuiu users to share their experiences. I see many already have, which is great.

I've had a kuiu pack for about five years. Several elk and a few other random animals have ridden in it. At least once I verified over 100 on a gym scale after a three mile hike. It was tough but not terrible. ...not much reason to do that again unless it's meat.

I did snag an exo that I'm looking forward to trying out this year.

I've always used my 7200 bag without the lid and going down to a 4800 exo feels tiny. I'm sure I'll make some cuts on what gear lives in the bag now though.

Kifaru's bags haven't really appealed to me, nor does the idea of adding/removing pockets, pouches, and doodads... Other than their gun bearer, that thing is money for hiking with a long gun.

A buddy of mine picked up a Kuiu. Our first stop on a multi day hunt, he broke a zipper. Later a zipper pull. The pack just didn’t seem the quality of an American made Mystery Ranch, Kifaru or Exo pack.

Here's some KUIU love: I've been happy with my KUIU even with heavy packouts. Its comfortable enough to not need to look around.

I have never tried a Kuiu, so I have no personal experience to draw from. However, I have run into several other hunters in the field who use them and love them. If Kuiu packs appeal to you, give one a try.

I have several packs from top makers. I really like the look of the kuiu.....but it gives me flash backs to hauling elk on my Dwight Schuh frame. I can never shake that painful memory.

Can’t handle weight, 100+...comfortably.
After last pack out, partner and I each with hind qtr & a backstrap, he sold his KUIU and bought a Kifaru.
Took a loss selling the KUIU, would have been far ahead spending $$$ once and done.

I’ve packed out 4 elk with my Kifaru, 3 of those solo w/multiple trips in/out.
Goodness, wish this Kifaru pack system was available 25 years ago!

don’t waste precious time, learn from others experience and buy a pack to last a lifetime...Kifaru !
And enjoy the decision of which Kifaru pack system to choose.
Your just as bad, or worse. Just because kifaru is what you like, don't mean its for every body. OP Don't be brand loyal, try to find some way to try on as many as you can. Search hiking fourms in your area, many will let you try theirs out. Or order a few, and return the ones that don't fit. Most places have a try and return policy. Good luck finding what works best for you.
