Why no love for Kuiu packs?

I have several packs from top makers. I really like the look of the kuiu.....but it gives me flash backs to hauling elk on my Dwight Schuh frame. I can never shake that painful memory.

Wow…..that brought back memories of suffering with the old Dwight flex-a-junk frame.
More recently….
I have owned one mystery ranch pack , 3 eberlestock, at least 12 Kifaru…and two EXO bags which were mounted on a Kifaru frame. I also have one of the Kuiu icon pros and it is my favorite pack up to 80 pounds. I switch to the Kifaru for hauling meat but don’t want to carry it around for 90% of my Hunt. To me the Kuiu is more comfortable, the hip belt fits better and it’s much lighter. I haven’t broken anything on it yet.

As I get older and the abuse of my youth haunts me more I much prefer a lighter setup.

Kuiu isnt bad for the price. I have the latest pro waist belt, 4k/6k ultra bags, and the old upgraded shoulder straps, forget what they named them but now discontinued. With the longer frame than recommended, i can make 100+ lbs comfortable. It hurts by the end of the day, but thats more my physical conditioning, not the pack.

I am very happy so far with my Kuiu 2300. I bought a Kifaru Stryker and sold it a few weeks later. Build quality was great but I could to get comfortable with it and hated the weight of it empty.

glad I found this post with some positive Kuiu pack feedback. I had narrowed my selection down to kuiu as it fits my needs best on paper but was concerned about quality - google/youtube did not help with those concerns.

I love my Kuiu pack. It has packed out many elk, lots of bears and some deer over the last 6 years and its still going strong. My 5500 only weighs 4lbs, it’s comfortable, the layout is good, and the load lifters work very well. The only negative I have is it’s hard to get all the blood out of the belt area from all those successful trips. Lots of great options out there and the Kuiu works for me.

I was gunna buy a kuiu, tried my buddies during bear season. Hauled out one bear and with a semi heavy load on it. I was struggling with hot spots and just wasn't to comfortable. Maybe I should have played around with the adjustments more but all in all wasn't super impressed. And the thing sure did like to squeak. I thought it was gunna be a huge upgrade compared to my Alps outdoors xtreme pack but I will suffer having a Lil bit heavier of a bag with the alps on my back just to have a much more comfortable pack.
