My wife and son (49 and 17, both in excellent health), were down in Florida visiting family. One of the cousins starting feeling bad on Sunday, 7/18. He had it. Now as a primary exposure, they couldn’t fly back. So I had to do a midnight run Monday night down to Jacksonville from Memphis and then turned around and came right back.
My wife started showing symptoms Wednesday of being tired and mild fever. She and my son got tested on Friday and she was positive, son was negative. The first three days were mild fatigue and mild fever (under 100). Then the fatigue after 3 days became so bad she was practically bed ridden, but the fever stayed under 100. She didn’t lose her smell and taste, but lots of things started tasting very different to her.
I got worried when the oximeter was hovering in the low 90s and talked to two of her doctors about treatment. ******* assholes wouldn’t do a goddamn thing for her. Said they’re just following CDC guidelines, which is rest and go to the hospital if your short of breath and your lips turn blue. Just ridiculous nonsense that the CDC refuses to acknowledge any of the proven treatment protocols after 18 months of this disease.
I should not have waited almost 7 days, but I finally contacted a doctor online who has a treatment protocol of hydroxychloroquin, ivermectin, azythromiacin and a Nebulizer breathing treatment. In less than 24 hours after starting the meds she was significantly better. She had some lingering fatigue for a few more days, but her O2 levels steadily increased.
She socially distanced from everyone in the family except me (we continued to share our bed) until I got tested on Tuesday (6 days after she started showing symptoms) and came back negative. I then got an antibody test and that was negative as well. I decided to not press my luck further and started distancing from her.
This past Monday my son started with mild congestion and clearing his throat a lot. He has pollen allergies, so this is normal for him this time of year. He came home from school Wednesday and the congestion was worse and the throat clearing was nonstop. I took him to get tested on Thursday…COVID positive.
We spent about 2 hours in an enclosed car together for the testing process, so here I am again having to quarantine because of another exposure. No symptoms so far. I plan on getting tested for both Covid and antibodies on Tuesday, which will be 5 days after the last major exposure to him. Here’s to hoping I dodge another bullet.
His symptoms are very mild…congestion, dry cough, mild fever and difficulty sleeping. Not really fatigued like my wife. I didn’t wait this time to contact the same online Dr. We are waiting for the Rxs to be called in.
My suggestion is to check with your doctor about an actual treatment protocol for Covid now before you get sick. If they insist on following CDC guidelines, fire them and find another doctor.
Online doctors are an option too and was our only choice for my wife and son since their current doctors are retarded. There are several that are recommended, but with the infection numbers increasing, they’re getting super busy and backed up. I contacted them on Thursday and we’re still waiting for the Rxs to be called in.
The best time to hit the virus with the meds is within 5 days of symptom onset. After that, they tend to become less effective depending on how far the infection has progressed. So, don’t wait.
Good luck to y’all and stay healthy.
Edited to add that none of us are vaccinated and we’ve been taking zinc and quercetin supplements and vitamins D3, C since the first exposure.
