White Mountain Apache- be aware

OP has numerous threads about bad guided hunts and crooked outfitters
Story seems sus on first read.

Is the WMA res that big and ginormous and remote? I can understand hunkering down for a night if you got left somewhere remote like the Frank Church. But I feel like maybe you could have walked to the nearest road, flagged someone down for a ride, and been mega pissed when you got back to camp. 🤷

Definitely need a lot more details but I think you are overestimating most peoples abilities (especially those who do guided hunts). A lot of the reservations are pretty remote though and there is always shenanigans when dealing with them.

It seems crazy to me too that a guy wouldn't have onX or something of that sort to get back to the truck or something. Also a way to start a fire, we are talking about Arizona, not like starting a fire in Alaska.

Then again, I guess if you are strictly a hunter that gets guided around all the time then you may not have the survival skills or know how to be prepared.

By the way, I'm not discounting the story. Just seems like there might be some critical details left out.

I’m sure there is a lot of detail being left out

That is a bad experience. I know a guy who hunted the white mountain Apache this past fall. When I see him I’ll see what his hunt experience was and post back

Crazy story. If they were like this all the time we would hear about it. I know several guys that have hunted there, but not in the last 5 years. Never heard anything like this.

Crazy story. As many have mentioned, seems some details are missing. My biggest question is who goes out without their own water? Did you really rely on the guide to carry water for you?

This was a wild story and in no way am I saying it was false. Buy like someone else mentioned, would love to hear the pod cast, with the host asking some tough questions.

What is just as wild to me, none of the other hunters have posted any accounts, pictures, etc……normally, other accounts would help validate or discredit, but none thus far from other 2025 hunters, and it sounds like their were more than a few.
