With today's diesels and everything else added to get thru emissions I think pulling power and reliability is oxymoron...sure you can get 1000 fts lbs of torque...just don't shut it off when it's in re gen mode and hope your filter doesn't get clogged, or you get bad diesel, ect.....
These days I don't think there is one truck, the truck you need depends on what you want to do with it.

I bet you get three different opinions on this.

FWIW my 2018 F350 has been 100% problem free so far and I am at 62k miles on it. I use it like a diesel should be used by the way.

Saturday was a 500 mile trip hauling the mini.

Sometimes it huals my track loader too.

Mostly is hauls the camper with and without a trailer behind it.

I’ve had my share of large trucks, I drive a lot and tow decent loads 2-3 days a week. I would never buy another Chevy, last two-2019 and 2020 were both lemons, never again. I drive an F250, had 4 of them, the power, and the details are awesome, the technology more refined. Ford is the only large truck I’ve owned that doesn’t rattle, never been in the shop for anything but routine service. They do cost more but worth the money.F5DC5546-8B29-4F8E-97A4-EB753AD22BBE.jpeg

With the recent recalls on the Duramax, I'd steer clear of them. I had a '19 that began having tranny "shudders" the week after I bought it. GM never has corrected this issue. I ditched it for a '19 Powerstroke. 39,000 miles without any problems so far. I'd buy a Ram Cummins in a heartbeat too. GM will never get another red cent from me again....1 Duramax and 2 half tons (1 5.3 and 1 6.2) that shit the bed in under 10,000 miles convinced me that reliability is very, very low on their list of priorities. The half tons were both 2020 model years.

Oh come on, those are rookie weights.....

That ain't working a diesel, that's still 3/4 ton gas territory.

With one of my previous trucks I had picked up a 13.5 ton telehandler, pulled in to the place I was working and a Mennonite looked at it, said you normally haul stuff that heavy? I said no sir, this was a bit more than I expected. His response was, I was going to say, if that's the case, that truck has some major cajones, while he tugged up on his belt....

Pretty funny from a 60+ year old, old order.

I'm really just egging things on to see a ton truck pulling a 20 ton excavator, I'm sure someone here has done it

Ford. The 6.7 has proven to be very reliable.

And they have the F450... For hauling heavy, the bigger brakes, axles, springs and tires are huge.

I still prefer a Cummins though.

I've been pulling a 14,000 lb 5th wheel around the country since I bought my 2020 F250 diesel Super Duty I've been in 26 states in the last 2 years I love it. No issues in 30,000 miles I like the 10 speed transmission it's been a reliable machine so far. I had a Dodge 40 years ago and a Chevy about 20 years ago since then all my trucks have been Fords.

When you are on the freeway, pay attention to what the guys pulling for a living are driving. Hotshots, transporters etc…most drive cummins. I have a side gig transporting and every time I pick something up, its like I am pulling into a Ram dealership.

I think that's because they're the cheapest option.
Nope, its not. When I was shopping they were all within a couple grand of each other. In fact the duramax LT with leather was cheaper than my Bighorn. Guys who pull for a living aren’t going to make a decision based on saving a couple grand. They will put 500k miles on that truck in a few years - we get paid by the mile.
