When did a pickup truck become a "rig" ?

Probably about the same time that "run" became in favor over words like use, wear, carry. @Back Country Hunter 2 has me all confused because he is running some pants, while running a sleeping bag, and running some boots, and running a tripod and just, everything is running in the same sentence.

Is there still a chance I can run your Swaro's during 3rd and 4th season? If so, I will pull the trigger on not using running and start USING things. Those bino's would be a real game changer.

Around the same time cops started referring to themselves as “operators”

Terms that bother me are “pulled the trigger” and “game changer.”

Is "punch the trigger" better?

I've heard guys say they were "loading up their rig" for decades, meaning they were loading up their truck. I've also heard it used in fishing as well.

Hah, yes. Much better!

I’m used to “rig” being an action...as in rig something up.

YES!! Hahahaha thanks for the laugh

Where I’m from........a truck is a truck, a Jeep is a Jeep, a car is a car and a rig is a semi.

Also we don’t “run” gear, we “use” it....and my mom was an operator when she worked for the phone company.😂
another is when folks refer to their wives as their old lady. my wife ain't no old lady. sure she ain't as young as biden likes em.🙄😁 but she aint old either.

Horse drawn wagons were called rigs. It carries over to any vehicle today depending what region of the country you’re in.

In my opinion, a “truck” should refer to a semi. A pickup is what must of us drive and is what a lot people refer to as their “truck”.
They are called Pickups, trucks are 2 ton or better until you get to a semi. Marketing has everybody thinking they are buying a big mean truck instead of a pickup or if you drive a compact pickup we call those throwaways.

I am from the south a truck is truck, a jeep is a jeep, and a car is a car. We run run different rigs when fishing for reds and sea trout. We kill critters and eat em. Hell we dont even "harvest" crops we pick em. We like our hat bills curved just like our women. I am sure as hell not going to call wife the old lady..she is referred to as the better half.
