For a single day/night and scouting trip pack, nothing beats my Osprey Hikelite 26.

I made the switch to Stone Glacier last season and packed out 6 deer with it; including packing down this Coues spike buck for an injured friend. None of them were very long pack outs at all but I am loving it so far!

I run the big Barneys Of Alaska pack…..

Do you have a link to this pack? Currently researching new packs and believe in keeping it simple.

Currently using a Arcteryx Bora 80, but looking for something built for the purpose.

Thanks

i was a long time SG user, but now that i have tried the exo K4 i do not see myself switching to anything else in the foreseeable future . The K4 checks all the boxes for me, as before with other packs it always seemed to be about a 75% perfect.

John, I think you’ll really like the SO frame. The new bags are great too. It’s a solid choice and it’s a very comfortable pack. I didn’t get mine until after Christmas. So, I’ve not put a whole deer in it yet. But, I have carried around 65-70 pounds in it and have zero complaints. It’s a great system.
Any input on the durability over all and the noise of the pack fabric while hunting?

The Ark frame and belt are the best I’ve tried and the Stryker XL works excellent for me. That’s after trying a number if other frames and styles of bags.

I haven’t used it enough to say. I’ve carried several deer in it so far and it’s holding up fine. The fabric is stiff and makes more noise then cordura. But, I’d not worry about it.

It’s quiet enough to hunt in the mountains of WV. Where deer have to be close in order to see. As far as I know I’ve never spooked one while getting in the bag while hunting.
