For my bow and arrow that I am taking to BC on my goat and moose hunt, I am using prototype BE Rampage that are just over 7 GPI and .250 spine. Very high mod carbon. Been shooting for over a year and yet to break one. I have Firenock Aeroinserts in SS and Firenock unlighted nocks with Flex Fletch Flash vanes all tipped with the QAD Exodus. Finished arrow with wraps weighs 420. This is light for me, but they fly so nice and penetrate like crazy.

I finally settled on my arrow...sort of:

BEA Rampage 300 28"
Blazer Vanes (no wrap)
Easton Brass HIT insert
VAP Footing
VAP 100gr 3 Blade Fixed Head

If I go 50gr HIT insert, it should come out to 434gr @ FOC 15.13%
If I go 75gr HIT insert, it should come out to 459gr @ FOC 16.81%

Can you explain/clarify how and why you struggled with FMJ's last year? Was it the FOC?

I would go with the 75 gr HITs. I shot an axis for a while and went from the standard alum, to the 50 gr HIT, then the 75 gr.. It bumped up FOC and I felt like it made a more stable arrow out past 50-60 yards.

This year, I switched from the tried and true easton axis to the Victory VAP. I am stoked to see how they stack up on elk, should be deadly.

VAP V1 250s with SS outserts, Blazers no wrap, topped with 100 gr. slick tricks or possibly ramcats by the time hunts roll around.

Total arrow weight is 490 gr with 17.11% FOC.

Still trying to decide on mine. 60# Nitrum Turbo.

Either FMJ Injexion shafts 330 spine Firenock Aeroutserts and 100 grain points.

Or Zelor 300 shafts 76 grain outserts and 150 grain heads, not entirely sure yet
