I hunt most of my white tails in South East Michigan (The Thumb) . The last few years with a .450 Bushmaster Ruger American. Before that mostly with a .50 cal muzzle loader.
My wife hunts with a Savage 220 shotgun. All three are moa.

What is your preferred caliber for whitetail? I know there's alot of good ones, just curious!
List the exact cartridge and load if you want!

I like 270 with 140gr hornady btsp
I’m partial to the weatherby mags. 270 and 257. Both are awesome rounds. Reloader 22 with a 110 gr TTSX for the 270 and 4350 with accubonds in the 257

I have found bullets entering at or above 2900 FPS to not be as consistent in expansion as bullets traveling slower (within reason). The ttsx may very well perform beautifully at those speeds.

The bullet would enter and either exploded or punched through and didn’t seem to expand until it reached the far shoulder.

Just one mans limited observation

I have not experienced that at all. The BC on the TTSX of that size and caliber is not great but it is less than 1/2 MOA and everything I’ve shot with them left large wounds

30-06 with 150 grain. Gonna try a 308 with 180 grain bullets this season because I’m having a hard time finding 30-06 rounds.

My favorite all time caliber for WT is the 270. With that said you may catch me hunting with no telling what on any given day, because I like guns!!

I've been rolling with my 6.5cm with a 143grn eld-x and haven't had a single white tail run off. I know, 6.5cm gets a lot of flack, but it comfortable to shoot and it covers the range I'm willing to shoot, so it hasn't given me any reason to switch cals when it come to white tail hunting. Now if I'm going elk, I'm going 7 SAUM.
