A little bird was flying south for the winter when he got caught in a snowstorm. Between the snow on his wings and the cold wind he couldn’t fly anymore so he fell to the ground nearly frozen. He was sitting there on the concrete outside an old barn, When along came a big dairy cow who took a shit on him. He thought to himself. Geez, I couldn’t get any more miserable!
As he squatted there in a big cow pie, the warmth of it begin to warm his little body. Feeling better, he begin to sing. The barn cat heard him, came out to see what was going on. He walked up to the little bird, gave him a great big smile, and said how you doing little buddy? The little bird said, I’m feeling much better. Thank you! With that, the cat reached out a paw, snagged him out of the cow pie, and gobbled him down.
The moral of the story? Not everybody who shits on you is your enemy. Not everybody who smiles at you is your friend. And when you’re Warm and happy in a big pile of shit, keep your damn mouth shut.
As told to me, by my father, Colonel Robert L Nair, United States Army. A lot of wisdom in here if you think about it carefully.
