Well I had a poll on this post. Admins moved it and I lost the poll.

Basically I’m between the ones listed below.

Can Am HD9
Honda Pioneer 1000
Polaris Ranger 1000
Kawasaki Mule FXR

So I am in the market for a SXS. I only need 1 row of seats. My primary uses will be on my wooded mini farm with horses/goats etc and whitetail hunting property. I may trail ride on occasion and I will be taking this out west for hunts.

I am leaning Can Am or Honda. The HD7s/HD9s are priced well over here and I like the feature set. Ive been on a Rincon since I was 13 and bought the same Rincon off my folks about 10 years ago. The reliability is unreal. So the Pioneer 1000 has my attention, especially with that 6 Spd dual clutch.

My family has had a couple mules and a Ranger 570. We currently use a Pro-DXT primarily. For farm type use they are perfect. The trails out west are my concern.

I love my pioneer 1000-6. Ride quality is great and Honda reliability. Compared to my grandfathers mule it rides like a Cadillac. His 2023 mule will rattle your teeth out in the pastures.

Edit- forgot about how hot the single row Honda seats get. That’s definitely a known issue for them and might be worth a closer look at the can am if you’re gonna be using it in the summer months. My buddy has the 3 seater and the cab gets pretty hot and the ride for the shorter wheelbase is not as nice as the 6 seater.

I think you've narrowed it down to the 2 better choices. For all around use, a CanAm or Honda. I have a Can Am. The Polaris and Kawasaki are better suited for the things you mentioned, i.e. farm, ranch. I've ridden in Polaris and Kawasaki and they are fine for that purpose.

Something to consider if you plan on riding trails in many national forests, there is a 50" width maximum in many areas. This will eliminate the Ranger and other similar models. The Polaris RZR can be purchased in some 50" models.

Good point, I’ve considered the 50” pioneer, my brother owns the one in the pic. I just figured if the 50” rule comes into play I’ll just bring the ATV on that hunt. I think I’ll like the full size SXS better for most of my uses.

I had a pioneer 1000. Now have a can am. All my ranch friends who had Honda now have can am as well. Honda is a very capable machine, but is hot, dusty, noisy, and rough riding

John Deere Gator or Kawasaki mule if mainly work. Can Am defender for out west, trail riding and most work. I don’t think you can beat the Gator around your own property or farm but slow.

I also used to have a Pioneer. We switched to a Can Am last year. The Can Am is better is almost every way. Not as hot, less dusty, transmission doesn’t have engagement issues all the time, more comfortable, fit and finish is superior, not as hot, not as hot. Did I mention how hot the Pioneer seat gets?

Living in the SW, CanAms have the reputation of generating the most heat into the cab area, if you want to use it a lot in the summer. I can remember some hunts in WY, where the end(mountain top) of the road parking revealed 5 Polaris and 1 Honda.

Do yourself a favor and look at the CF MOTO before deciding.

I had the Polaris Xpedition Northstar and when I thought about how much it sat around, the 50k price tag didn’t seem so great any longer. It was a fantastic machine and I won’t go without full cab HVAC again.

I sold it and bought the Moto Highland. It is fantastic. My Polaris had the full enclosed cab and bed. The moto has an open bed that has an electric dump. Apple CarPlay, remote winch, electric windshield, more seating room, sliding rear window, AC and Heat work FAR better than the Polaris.

And was 23k less.

I've had a Pioneer 1000-5, 1006 and a Can-Am Defender Limited I think the new HD11 would be the one I'd get.

1000-5 Hot and Dusty and I had the Full Honda Hard doors/enclosure. It was fine during hunting season but terrible during the warmer months. What drove me crazy was the transmission down shifts when coming down a hill and off the mountain Would just put in neutral to make life easier and even the manual shift would kick back into auto

Sold the Defender as someone really wanted it and bought the 1000-6 for cruising around in summer (windshield only) Currently that is for sale to get the new HD-11

Kawasaki Mule. It is the OG. I wouldn’t own a Polaris after owning one of their 4 wheelers. Polaris likes to correct know issues mid model. For instance needed a clip for a rear axle. They had 3 to chose from all for the same year model

Hondas are not mature enough in the space IMO and Can AMs are normally very expensive for parts in my area.
