What shotgun are you all using for Turkeys

Remington 11-87 20ga. Mine isn't optic ready but I run the truglo magnum gobble dot sights. Hands down the best shotgun sights on the market other than a red dot imo. it's not as light as a pump 20ga but not as heavy as most 12s so a little bit of kick but not gonna wear you out carrying a 12 all day.

I usually use a Benelli SBE 12 ga with a primos jellyhead choke. It shoots 3.5" longbeard #5's or 3" longbeard 6's into nearly identical patterns at 40 yds. Both my sons are now using 20 ga Benelli Nova's with Apex TSS #9's. My younger son uses the Nova compact. I'm not necessarily a Benelli fan boy, and have used a lot of different shotguns to kill turkeys; Rem 870, Win Model 12, Mossberg 500, and my favorite...an old Ithaca 37 in 16 ga. The 37 is limited because no one I know of makes a lead turkey load for 16 ga, and I'm reluctant to use TSS in that old barrel. I'm stuck using 2 3/4" "magnum" pheasant loads, which means 25-30 yds is the limit. I'd do some shady things for a box of 10 longbeard xr's in 16 ga. I do use that shotgun on days that the Tom's seem more excited and I feel like my chances of getting one in close are good.

Got my first bird last week with my new Mossberg SA20 Tactical Turkey topped with the Holosun HS510C. Carlsons .565 choke shooting Apex Ninja TSS. Absolute hammer. After patterning and killing with it I don't see any reason to buy a 12ga for turkey today unless you simply don't want to shoot TSS for some reason.

Mossberg sa20 turkey thug, older version, was just about to pull the trigger on a Benelli and found a smoking deal on it over on gunbroker. That was 6-8 years and a pile of long beards ago!

Shooting hand loaded TSS 9s, devastating to say the least!

Likely going to grab a Rossi tuffy turkey .410 for next year, sub 4lbs!
