So I've been using a tikka t3x v in 22-250 14t for thermal coyote hunting. Longest connection so far, 320yrd. Most shots are 150 to 250. I have hornady 55sp, 55gr sgk (lead tip), and 55 varmegeddon. Currently shoot a win v&p poly tip. Has been very lethal with 1 shot kills.. Whats your go to coyote bullet?

Sierra 55spbt#1365. Deadly and accurate for a chunky bullet. 53vmax very good as well.

My most recent was 12g, pheasant load at ~25 yards!

They’re not hard to kill… hitting them is key. I’ve got a pile of 52gr Amax that work fine and are quite accurate in my rifle.

53 vmax has been my best performing round by far, switched to a 75 eldm this year in my 22 250 so we shall see how that goes

53 Vmax. Is far and away my preference for that application. Used to use it 22-243 Ackley. That one was rough on barrels in prairie dog towns, but was a coyote laser.

What barrel specs did you have for that? Also, what velocities?

53 vmax is my favorite too. Have coyote kills out to 685 yards with a slow 22-250.

This bullet is great especially on quartering too shots when you need more penetration.

I have the same POI for these 50gr vmax and 55 nosler BT. The sierra is my favorite and I haven’t noticed a difference is nosler vs vmax.

It was a 22” 1:12 if I remember right- but it’s been gone a while. It was up around 4k. Still use the 53 in my 223 ackley as well. Great bullet!

That velocity with that bullet makes a good argument to spin up a slower twist barrel and use that as a dedicated coyote gun. I might rethink building a second 22 creed.

Hornady 53gr V-MAX bullet in front of CFE223 @ ~3900fps, if not saving fur. Berger 52gr HP Match in front of Varget @ ~3400fps, if you are saving fur.

1:12 24” barrel - 50gr vmax is at 4050fps and my 55s are at 3700fps with cfe. Never loaded the 53s but I wouldn’t expect 4k out of them.

For dogs, I've preferred to shoot 55gr bullets in 22-250. It's cooking fast enough it should smoke any dawg out there. Leave the lighter bullets for the varmints.

The Sierra 55gn gameking have been sold in Australia for years branded as "Super Roo" bullets. They are great killers on roos, and wild dogs over here. That would be my first choice.

55gr vmax with a max load of h380. 1:14 twist. Tried several 50-52 grain but my vanguard varmint really likes the 55.

The 53gr Vmax is my "go to" bullet of choice in my 12tw 22-250 & 9tw 223AI and it has yet to disappoint but you really need at least a 12tw barrel for those 53 Vmax I wouldn't recommend them in a 14tw.

In a 14tw 22-250 I'd recommend either the 52gr ELD-M or one of the Nosler Ballistic Tip bullets 55 grains and under. Those 52gr ELD-M always have shot really well in 14tw barrels as have the 40/50/55 grain Nosler BTs. The Nosler BT's may not have the BC some of the Hornady's have but they are a hard hitting bullet.
