The Terra's I looked through we're not impressive. It was in a store mind you, but I was left with zero desire to take them outside.

Have you spent a week with Nikon Monarchs? To find anything better than a pair of $250 dollar Monarchs you'll spend $4-500. Period. Don't believe me? Go for it.

I ended up getting a fantastic deal on a pair of vortex viper hds on here. So Im getting a step up from what I was planning on!

Yea I've had monarchs before everything is a tradeoff that's for sure. Not everyone uses their binoculars the same so some may have never experienced eye fatigue or head aches. Some people are more sensitive than others. Budgets are what they are so maximizing price per performance is key. You have to factor in warranty also if you want extended service. I'm a true believer you never regret spending more on better optics but often regret spending less. Glad you found what works for you but I wouldn't go back to monarchs. Although the 7s get good reviews

I Have had monarchs also And didn't want to go back to them either. Thats why I ended up with the vipers. Good warranty and pretty decent glass.

I'm in the same boat as the OP, but looking to spend around $550. Really torn between the Vipers, Terra's and Monarchs. Did anyone clarify if you could use the Terra on a tripod?

I didn't get a response to that. And I forgot to look at sportsmans, But I compared the vipers and the terras side by side. and there is no comparison. I am very glad I got the vipers.

Bought a pair of Monarch 7 binos last year and have liked them a lot. They are the 8x32 version and very light. I have some high end glass but for what I want binoculars for, these are surprisingly good. And cabelas runs good sales on them.

I have the same pair. If I remember right they are just under 1 lb. Wide field of view. Sharp and bright. Easy to carry and easy to hold steady.

Those do look like a great option for a summer backpacking set of binos when I don't want or need the weight and bulk of my 12X50s.

Checkout RedHawks rifles, they had demo zeiss conquests hd's in the 8x32's for close to $550 or even take a look at the Maven B3.
