We had a local outbreak here a few weeks ago from people packing into a couple bars and a graduation party. It spread around town and into a long term care facility. I found out last week that my grandpa got it and I just got a call an hour ago that he likely won't make it through today. He was the best human being I've ever known. He always made the time to take me hunting and fishing. I never heard him curse and I never once heard him talk negatively about another person. He spent the last weeks of his life basically locked in solitary confinement. Nobody deserves to spend their last days of their life like that. It breaks my heart.
Sorry to hear about that

Thank you. Grandpa passed away this morning from Covid. He's with my Grandma now and they are probably sitting on a dock somewhere in heaven catching bluegills.
That's terrible man. Prayers for your family.

[Herman Cain, the former presidential candidate and former CEO of Godfather’s Pizza, has died from coronavirus...

Cain, as a co-chair of Black Voices for Trump, tested positive for Covid-19 on June 29 and was hospitalized on July 1 after developing symptoms serious enough to be hospitalized...

Cain's last public appearance was as one of the surrogates at President Trump's June 20 rally in Tulsa, Oklahoma.]

So I'm guessing (personal theory) that he got it at the trump rally where nobody was wearing a mask.

I completely understand the whole mask thing. There is no end game though, we are going to be wearing masks forever. There are many other diseases out there that we put surgical masks on sick people for and have been for years. I think healthy people wearing masks, just because you might be an unknown carrier is a little out there. Might as well just make it the new normal, put your mask on as soon as you put your socks on to leave the house. I just question when it will end. I personally have no issue wearing a mask if a business really wants me to. I do have a problem when they are using it to profit, and personally I don’t want to wear a mask at all, given the choice I would not be.

On top of that, they are giving lots a false sense of security to go do whatever, congregate, go shopping when in reality they do not keep you from getting sick.

There’s a reason I’m wearing an n95 mask and not a surgical mask at work.

Just got done with a entity wide town hall for work. Our risk management team talked about the mask mandate and what it would help prevent. It went all the way down to the flu and common cold, because, direct quote "nobody wants to get sick." Kind of adds to that when does this end question...and yes, I work for the State.

Exactly. Corona isn’t going anywhere. We have been putting masks on sick people since I began providing healthcare 9 years ago. It’s nothing new. One thing Iv never done till Covid is put a mask on a healthy person. It’s also a day late and dollar short if you ask me. It’s August.... Our state just implemented masks as required. So excited to wear them for my 48 hour shift! There is no end game. IMO it’s more political now than it is for anything.

Im not a tinfoil hat wearer like a bunch of guys on here, but I see it as pretty damn strange that mask mandates come as the riots grew.

I’m also not trying to be insensitive to anyone who has lost a loved one to this virus. The virus is real, and it’s killing people. Even as a responder desensitized to death, watching someone die of respiratory failure is very hard. Pre Covid, now and in the future it’s hard to see. It’s hard to manage on a healthcare side, and it is caused by a lot of things.

That said, even being in pre hospital care, and watching what’s going on the last few month, I still think we are being played.

On a bright note, the kids in our area are going back to school on August 13th after their 5 month summer break and fall sports have been given the go ahead to proceed as normal.

WI just mandated masks with a state of emergency, citing a recent increase in cases. If you look at the stats, cases have leveled and our death rate is actually dropping (currently 1.7%) Just madness! I'm guessing this will be challenged at the supreme court level, again.....

It is becoming very clear this is ONLY political at this point. Whats the end game?
