The future only looks like Seattle if we don’t make the same mistakes that we witnessed in other county’s like Italy. Early containment, limited travel, suppressed gatherings will all flatten the curve.
Compare that to the bitching we see on here over school closures

all that is happening in a major way. Schools ARe closing, people are working from home, no one is traveling, airlines are cutting routes, restaurants are shutting their doors, people are stocking up food for staying home. we are largely self-quarantining because of fear and panic. It does not set a good precedent.

How many people who are convinced it's a Democrat conspiracy read news from outside the USA?

Here's the short version. Its happening in alot of places outside the USA. 'Merica is playing catch up, not leading the way.

Sorry, I'm not trying to piss anyone off and unfortunately that isn't fake news.
Coronavirus is real.
However, the Democrats ARE exaggerating and twisting facts, just like the Chinese. Their goal is to make Trump look bad. They WANT the economy to crash, and they will do their best to make it happen. They are going to say Trump should have done more here and less there no matter what he does. They are just like a spoiled baby. They beg for milk, then spit it out and scream for more. They load their diaper and scream that nobody's changing them. When someone changes their diaper, they scream about that too.

Why don't they start worrying about starvation, that's killing approximately 15,000 people a DAY.

Why not fight drug abuse? An average of 130 AMERICANS die every DAY from drug overdose. That's double the coronavirus death toll ever since it started in the US.

100 people died today in vehicle accidents in the USA, you still drive?
Remember Jaws? I sure do!!! I remember going to the beach the summer after. No one was in the water. I was kid and scared too. I remember thinking the odds of a shark attack were less than getting struck by lightning. I knew that, however being in deep water not able too feel the bottom is still uncomfortable a bit to me. It's not being able to see and being totally vulnerable. Last summer I finally bought fins for boogie boarding. I was catching so many waves, but I got tired out battling the waves to get back out. Oh, and I couldn't stand up with the fins. Lol

All restaurants in Ohio, Illinois closed. Puerto Rico closed all business with a few exceptions. Curfews enacted except security.

Whether you are “afraid” or think this is stupid, it’s coming to your neighborhood soon. Man I get furloughed I might lay on the beach and catch fish for awhile......

It was the only place in a 10 mile radius that could take both kids at the time we were looking. I have four other friends with kids in other daycare that are not expected to pay. Last update from a teacher we talk to was there’s a handful of parents saying their pulling the kids if she expects them to pay. Everyone is furious, but we are in a tough circumstance with no backup plan
Hate hearing about this, can you get ahold of enough parents to band together and tell the daycare to pound sand. A big enough challenge will cause them to blink I'm sure.

I've never been to Italy. I had a buddy from Malta and he said Sicily was real bad. The further South the worse. Isn't Northern Italy a lot better? Isn't that where Ferrari and other manufacturing is? And it's got more German influence? Italy is on my list of places to go. Italy is tops in romance, food, wine, history all that.
No northern Italy has a huge Chinese population. Over 100,000 emigrent workers from Wuhan area. Daily non stop flights from northern Italy to Wuhan. Northern Italy is the Epicenter there.

News isn't reporting that either.

It's worth checking out and the history is super cool. I was just trying to put it in context that you can't compare what is happening in Italy will happen here. It is not the cleanest place and like I said the health regulations are nowhere close to what we have here.

What’s the end game here? Hole up until a vaccine is available? That seems unrealistic.

So they are basing decisions on the spread of the Spanish Flu of 1918. In areas where social distancing was not enacted, it spread so fast that it overwhelmed the system. In places that it was enacted it slowed the spread enough so the hospitals could handle the number of sick.

They aren’t trying to prevent the spread, just slow it enough that more don’t die due to lack of care.

I knew Northern Italy was the epicenter there. I had no idea why? Right the news hasn't reported that. The news agencies have become a clear and present danger to America. If they aren't, then I don't know how anyone could be.

Nobody is dying here because lack of care again don't compare the U.S. to these countries with crap universal healthcare and other issues. Look at Canada before the Corona outbreak it was an eight week wait to see a specialist after a referral from a primary care physician. Tell me where that occurs here?

Right, I know it's nothing like here. I'd guess it's closer to Mexico or Latin America, but a little better.

Great question. From whats been stated there is some consensus that if we can get the RO number down below 1 it is believed that it will gradually disappear. Thats assuming it mirrors other similar contagious Diseases that we have historical data on.

So I guess the next question then is: how long is that going to take?

If 3.5 million people have to spend up to 2 weeks in a hospital I’m guessing longer than waiting for a ride at Disney Land.

Right I believe that is the plan to flatten the curve so it takes longer for people to get infected, so the system doesn't get overwhelmed. Very logical to me.

The media's first priority is to make money. They do that by hyping things. They would do that with a Democrat president too, to make money. But they would hate it and do as little as possible. The mainstream media has zero credibility.

I've heard from reliable sources, that it won't get better for 3 months. I'm mentally preparing myself for that. I think it's better to be overly cautious than under cautious. People must not panic, but the Democrats and media are fanning those flames. It's very terrible and unAmerican!!

Pretty sure spanish flu killed 3-5% of the global population. That would be 200-400 million today. There is only 6000 dead now.....how does this compare to spanish flu?

Not logical.

29 of the 37 deaths in Washington took place in the Life Care Center. Two more yesterday. The entire facility is in isolation and the residents and their families are not allowed to see one another. Even after they become critically ill. That's brutal. Honestly, people are going to hide their symptoms in the face of that reality. 32 new cases reported today.
