Pretty excited to see this high-end clothing company coming on as a Rokslide sponsor. We checked out their lines at the WHCE in February and think they’ll be some big fans on Rokslide. To be sure, we’re getting some of the hunting-specific pieces in the writers’ hands, (@realunlucky @Ross @Howard Mee ) and as always, they can say what they want. Designed, developed, and tested by Aron Snyder with the textile resources and fire power from Born Primitive's athletic apparel business, it's designed for the western backcountry hunter. Born Primitive Frontier Pant:

Reinforced cuffs, so you don't wear them out while walking on them when you're boots are off. Thoughtful added touch.
Reinforced knees. Not as thick as some pants, but the reinforcement is noticeable. The padding was notable while working construction and kneeling on wooden floors. Not a total game-changer, but better than not having it.
The pockets are ridiculous (in a good way). Pockets and pouches everywhere. Pockets were excellent for turkey hunting: mouth calls, phone, etc etc
The interior fabric on the primary pockets is a little weak IMO. They're obviously working towards finding light-weight solutions, but I'll be curious to see if they hold up.
Size and fit are bigger/looser than what we're used to. They're not an athletic fit.
Waist sizes are 28-30-32-34-36 etc
I'm a true 35 and the 36's are a bit too big. Probably should have gone with the 34's. Might keep that in mind if you want an "athletic" fit.

I'd like to hear if @realunlucky @Ross have had a similar experience.

Born Primitive Ridgeline Heavy Base Layer Top/Bottom:

I haven't worn these enough to give too much info, but so far, they're comfortable.
60% Merino Wool, 40% Cool Pass makes them more comfy than straight wool.
I really like that they don't feel like wearing Saran Wrap. Still snug enough to be a base layer, but not suffocatingly so.

Two long days out in the jungles wearing the Frontier pant, Ridgeline lite and heavy tops and the Quiver half zip hoody.

I run large in every company I have gear from.

5’7” 161 34 waist and 31 inseam.
42 chest and round mountain butt.

I acquired 33/34 pants and large top.

tops spot on and pants a little baggy but prefer this over too tight.

Tops very comfortable and soft. All 3 dry quickly and so far the heavy top has the most use no tears nor stink after 16 hrs of sustained exertion.

Pants as Howard noted lots of pockets. There is a slight swish and with the reinforced knees and butt think these will be very durable. Leg zips are nice and a staple these days. Not an athletic fit but not too baggy.

So far only recommendation add chest pocket to the hoody.

I love my quiver hoody. Got it during a sale for a reasonable price and it is excellent for active hunting as a second layer. It isn’t the warmest, but wicks moisture extremely well and the fit is perfect.

I have the quiver hoody and sentry jacket. I love both but even ordering a size up the sentry jacket sleeves are very tight in the forearm. It’s good for bowhunting I guess but makes it difficult to layer under. The Sherpa pilled up pretty quickly but not terrible. Customer service is great, swapping sizes was super easy. I really like the hood on both pieces. Going back to my Sitka core hoody I realized I didn’t like that hood quite as much. Quiver is slightly less warm than the Sitka for reference.

It’s tough to get pics of yourself when you’re hunting w/o looking like a chowder-head, but here’s some proof that we actually are wearing this stuff. I this I’ve worn the pants literally everyday (at some point in the day).

I found another set of pockets that I had missed.

My boy Odin and I have been beating the brush hard trying to rip up this gear No luck so far about 35 miles in so far. Had to wash the top at 20 hrs was just starting to get some stink.washed up good but for those guys who worry about pilling yes there is some but this heavy top is doing very well durable enough and yet not overly warm in temps to low 40s. The pants heavily sweat stained but zero tears.

Has anyone had this happen?
The reinforced nylon layer on the butt separated from the seam.

I also have a hole in my front left pocket. The sewing machine laid down the proper seam/stitch but it missed the fabric.

If no one else has experienced this, it looks like the sewing machine left some defects. I’ll give Customer Service a call and see what they say.

only in the heavyweights. yet with the lightweights made for hot weather there's none? makes no sense just like sitka with their ascents

WTS - Born Primitive Frontier Light WITH side zips

Size 34 Regular, (33 inseam) coyote brown. As new. I had a seamstress put YKK side zips in a bunch of pairs, these were one. I thought I'd get used to the snugness of these, but prefer others. $170 shipped via fee free PayPal or Venmo.
