It is easy to make a lightweight pair of waterproof mittens from old breathable wader material:

After seam-sealing, I pour a quart of water inside to make sure they are 100 percent waterproof.

I wear these on my 50-mile boat ride into/out of camp with no windshield.

Underneath the shell I wear 2 pair of polarfleece mittens while driving the boat.
While glassing/hunting I wear a liner glove in the mitten with my trigger finger.

Damn, I want to know more about this 50 mile boat ride. What HP motor and how much gas does it take?
60 hp four stroke with 13 pitch prop.
Mostly use a canoe once in camp, head in with a 6 gallon tank underneath the seat, a 12 gallon tank by my side,
and 4 six gallon tanks up front. Need about ~20-25 gallons to get in and out.
Tunnel hull helps getting thru shallow water.

Good idea. Looks like a doable project. Did you make liners for these?
I wear 2 pair of polar fleece mittens inside when cold-weather boating.
I do that because if the become damp from sweat, they dry out overnight in the sleeping bag.
Same with the waterproof mittens, turn them inside out and hang them to dry on a line in the tent.
