Is this normal/acceptable? At lower light (dusk) the ‘2’ is illuminated at the lowest setting, so this isn’t just due to bleed through on the highest setting. My only other experience with an illuminated scope is the Razor HD 1-6 that I used for 3 gun, but I’m thinking this is an excessive example of the illumination bleeding into the reticle. It’s not noticeable in bright daylight, but in lower light it’s pretty distracting. Should I suck it up or send it back? Can someone else who owns one see if theirs does this too?

Must be an automatic wind sensing feature, probably picking up your heat vent, and telling you your wind hold!

I guess I'm concerned with dialing, not illumination. Don't even have batteries in any of my scopes. I've never needed illumination on a big game hunt. It just adds weight and one more thing to go wrong.

I’m also more concerned with dialing than illumination and rarely used the illumination on any scope I’ve had. That being said, I still want the stuff I pay for to work properly, especially when it’s straight out of the box. To me that illumination issue just sort of solidifies everything I’ve thought all along about vortex, I was so close to giving them another shot, glad I waited.

Not that vortex cares, I’m just a nobody.

I understand wanting things to work. I get to see lots of scopes. I had a new X5 that once you turned on the illumination it would not turn off also had a new NF that would not turn on at all. Its just, not a Vortex issue. That said I would not own a PST at some point you get what you pay for. But for the most part, the Razor line seems to be holding up. The gen 1 Razor I own still has not failed me. I hope the LHT falls in that category too.

This pretty much sums up what my feelings are. There are lots of great options out there, and on paper this one fit what I was looking for. I just feel like I can't trust it.

Awful lot of excitement over a small reticle bleeding issue.

That's debatable. Even on the lowest setting the Illumination of other than the center dot were very distracting. The picture doesn't do a perfect job of representing how messed up the reticle looks under illumination. I called Vortex, they agreed it was defective. After looking a little closer, it doesn't appear to be an issue of blooming or bleeding, but that the illumination was actually illuminating parts of that number 2 the same as the center dot. I suppose if you would've dealt with it that's your prerogative. For me, I like stuff to work as advertised. It's a bummer because I wanted to love it.

I don’t know man, vortex even told the guy it was defective I don’t see any reason to accept that and just move on and not worry about it.

I’d be pretty disappointed too if I got a brand new scope from any company and it was delivered like that.

not meant at the poster that has the issue. It’s a warranty issue for sure. Meant at the circle jerk of others than ensued over a non major failure.

100% a defect that I would expect to be fixed.

but it’s also about as minor as you can get in terms of a scope defect minus a cosmetic blemish. Not meaning to lessen the fact that it sucks for you. I’ll send mine back if it has this issue. It just doesn’t warrant a SEEVORTEXSUCKS community Kum ba ya IMO. Though, if this actually made me not trust the scopes I would for sure roll on to another option

Fair enough, and I agree 100 percent. Hopefully mine was an isolated incident and the rest of you can enjoy it. The glass was better than my Razor HD II, so its got that going for it. The reticle was my favorite of anything out there. I also liked the turrets, hopefully they track true. One other note, mine came in at just under 19oz, so less than advertised.

The issue is why, though I like the direction of this scope, I really wish they would have saved whatever weight possible by not making it illuminated.

A $1000 scope should work. But this is exactly why I don’t want illumination on my scopes. Just something else to worry about. With decent glass and a good reticle design I can aim in any +/- 30 min legal hunting situation. I applaud their effort, but they leaned more towards the longer range, higher end than what I was hoping for. 9x-10x, no illumination, no parallax, 36-40mm obj, good glass, great reticle, bomb proof. I get why they went the way they did, buzz worthy features, it’s what the rest of the market wants. Less is more to me.
