Still not getting it. Vortex is a very good company for everyman glass. I had some Vipers and they we're great for my kid....not for me after owning Zeiss,Leica my Nikon EDG's and Swaro- but they were 1/4 the price.

if you wanted better you needed to read the excellent optic comparisons available here and other places....this site is a great buyers resource.

I'm not a Vortex fanboy, but hate to see anything scorched for the wrong reason. if you want to be a fair minded sportsman you would change that title to something less hostile....

Here's the deal, I'm sorry you feel bad because you made a bad deal. That said, not everyone has the money to spend on really expensive glass. I could but choose not to. I also don't talk crap about what other people buy or like. I am very hard on equipment and can't see babying expensive stuff. I have only had an issue with the eyepiece on a spotter and a tripod leg. The warranty was fast and no questions asked. If you want to argue more, I guess the memes might have to come out.

I doubt he was getting kickbacks other than super cheap prices on vortex stuff. My brother sold optics at Cabelas like 10 years ago and every manufacturer has their “pro” discount system. At that time vortex was 60% of their msrp. Most places sell vortex below their MSRP. So while its still a sweet discount its not as much as you think.

The other brands didnt discount as much so all the workers at these places bought vortex for themselves so it was what they were familiar with and therefore could sell easier cause they knew more about their $800 razor spotting scope then a $3000 ATX they had never used. Excellent sales strategy for Vortex.

Swaro had some convoluted point system. You had to sell lots of swaro build points then cash them in to get swaro deals. My brother never sold enough to really get any swaro deals.

50% a browning product once a year if you took some sale class they had.

50% berreta, kimber once a year.

I dont know why anyone buys vortex new when the no fault warranty is transferrable.

Best spotting scope is the kowa btw.

Vortex has one of the best sales incentives programs of all the optics manufacturers.

Everybody knows Vortex MSRP is a joke, it’s so vendors can sell them and look like it’s on sale when that’s actually the MAP. Been that way as long as I’ve been buying them. I actually just bought the 27-60 version for $800 less than your Swarovski, zero complaints and no fogging issues.

Started selling a bunch of stuff to fund rebuilding my rifles and the only things I’ve sold that I got anywhere close to what I paid are Manners Stocks, SilencerCo Radius and Berger Bullets, everything else sold for much less.

You came on to a site to complain you overpaid for a spotting scope you didn’t like and got mad that the people who paid much less than you set the used market selling price lower than you wanted it to be.

You are now literally doing the same thing you are complaining about, by telling people you paid 72% of MAP for your spotting scope you are undercutting the used market and screwing everyone that paid full price for their Swarovski by lowering the used price. After all who is going to pay $2,500 when you can get it for $1,800 and why pay full price for used gear so now the used price drops to $1,600 or 64% of MAP, just above the 50% you got for your Vortex.

Enough people do that and the Swarovski used market becomes exactly the same as the Vortex market that you are complaining about.
