Unpopular opinions

If your looking for reduced recoil, this might be an answer to your problem.

Not legal here but I find I struggle more with the blast

Most of these seem like popular rokslide opinions - here's some real unpopular opinions for ya

- you're not cooler because you hunt in solids,
- Nosler Accubond is the best hunting bullet
- your max range rifle hunting should be 350 yards, max bow

But you do realize camo is a gimmick, right?

Why are those the numbers chosen for shooting distances? Just pick some random numbers?

Ok camo may be a gimmick but what are you doing paying $200 for khaki pants?

Yes random, short distances.

The long range rifle business is so popular now, and everyone wants to dump all this money into a LR setup, but it isn't at all necessary for hunting, which can all be done close range spot and stalk. No offense I would love to be that skilled of marksman

The archery part, well I don't think anyone, including myself, should be hucking it past 50.

They're supposed to be unpopular opinions right?!

Fair enough.

However it is really fun shooting arrows at long distance during practice. I regularly shoot at 100 yards during practice.

I have been needing a good rant!

Every day that goes by hunting/fishing is getting exponentially easier, but enjoyment/quality is going down just as fast because everyone is so short sighted/selfish!

Deer hunters buckle up - getting to hunt during the rut with a rifle on easy to obtain gen/otc/draw tags is not sustainable long term! Maybe you can get away with it for a bit longer but eventually the external factors (habitat loss/weather/disease/over harvest) will catch up with you! Your preference for “opportunity hunts” is selfish!

“Shoot what makes you happy” - makes me cringe now. Accomplished hunters shooting sub adult bucks (2.5-3.5 year olds) isn’t hunting, just shooting.

Farmers and some ranchers have quickly became the enemy when it comes to conservation and the environment chasing the almighty dollar. Most have been brainwashed by sales/marketing tactics over the last 20-30 years, but there are some glimmers of hope out there. Hopefully things balance back out before it is too late! Unfortunately where I learned to hunt will never be the same unless ag completely tanks. The habitat for the mule deer, quail, pheasants was destroyed and the populations quickly disappeared. The remaining animals live in quickly shrinking islands of habitat, with increasing hunting pressure.

Western hunting in general - unless hunter numbers fall back to where they were 10 years ago - we need to make changes to tags if we want to improve hunt quality. Personally I don’t want to screw up your hunt and would prefer if you don’t mess up mine. There is a limited amount of public land and the number of animals. The only way to reduce over crowding now is to reduce the number of people in the field - pick a unit/area and a weapon needs to happen and then tag allocations adjusted accordingly.

Suppressors for hunting are dumb. It's an overpriced tube that makes your rifle heavy, ungainly, and unsightly. It's not for your hearing protection - you can accomplish that for 1% of the price. It's an excuse for you to buy something because you think it's cool.
I used to agree with you until I tried one. Now I am hooked on suppressors. I agree on the negatives of extra length and weight but for me the advantages of reduced recoil, reduced sound, increase of 50-75fps and most (not all) loads group a little better the advantage outweigh the price and disadvantages.

This one I can’t get on board with. They are a game changer to me. Makes a 300 enjoyable to shoot. A kid could shoot it.

I think that they are beneficial to improving shooting ability for kids also. In my opinion, half the reason kids flinch is because of the sound.
