There is zero legitimate technical justification for needing 5/8 threading vs 1/2 for muzzle devices, and the lengths and hoops people go through to get to 5/8 on a sporter barrel are completely unnecessary

I believe, to the bottom of my heart, kids shouldn't be killing elk. The privilege should be earned not given.

Yes, in many families kids have to serve an apprenticeship of sorts, helping the older guys, doing a lot of grunt work at elk camp, and being there to watch until the old guys are tagged out, then they may get a chance if there’s time. It’s a natural progression. Don’t like it, hunt on your own. Many teenagers do hunt on their own because it makes their butt hurt. Lol

Binocular chest harnesses - all loaded up with a binocular pouch and other attachments for rangefinder, pistol, or bear spray - however functional one may find them to be - look absolutely ridiculous.

As a chest harness user, I agree, major dork factor. In fact mine carries all my nerd stuff when I'm working like notes, pens, GPS, flagging, and a 10mm.

My unpopular opinion is that hunting isn't actually that expensive nor a rich man's sport.

"just being out there" is one of the lamest lines in hunting.

There is an actual difference between 90% of the "gun makers" out there. Sorry but I don't get the popularity of guns like Seekins, Fierce, Christenson, Proof, etc.

Unpopular opinion for businesses, but camo should be a light outer layer to wear over whatever you want when you need it.

That non resident youth should not be getting tags over resident adults. Or the fact that Res Youth are competing with NR youth.

Kids should be hunting their own state, not getting multiple tags that dad paid for. Tags are getting WAY harder to get now for everyone.

In CO there's already a youth advantage in the primary and then benefits where some tags carry over to hunt all year.

I don't even know if that's an unpopular opinion anymore as just a few posts above we are talking about kids not being able to hunt until gramps tags out!

Suppressors for hunting are dumb. It's an overpriced tube that makes your rifle heavy, ungainly, and unsightly. It's not for your hearing protection - you can accomplish that for 1% of the price. It's an excuse for you to buy something because you think it's cool.

Just curious if you have shot a hunting rifle with one? It turns a 300 win into a 308 and there is no concussion from the blast. It's way more enjoyable to shoot. I have a 7.5 lb 300 wsm I can shoot all day long that wouldn't be possible without the suppressor.

I hate carrying a suppressed rifle, but not having to carry ear pro in the field or even worry about it in the heat of the moment is a huge pro.

I’ve read it here and elsewhere online. It got my attention. I started digging and asking questions and listened.

The 77gr TMK delivered by a .223 is where I ended up after many discussions and objective data regarding bullet performance and numerous pics of field results.

Now for the delivery system. Accurate. Repeatable. Reliable. Reasonable weight to afford steady shot placement and the ability to spot my own impacts...

I get that it reduces recoil, and that's cool, but that still falls way short of justifying the cost of entry and hassle of carrying it. Seems much simpler to just buy a hunting rifle with recoil that's manageable for whatever shooting you need to do with it. I keep my purchases at or below 7RM in size for exactly that reason. 280AI with a premium recoil pad is also like shooting a 308 and will take down everything on the continent.

"Carrying" ear pro is a non issue. For $10, you can hang a plastic band around your neck so that ear plugs are always right where they need to be. It may be an unpopular opinion, but to spend the hundreds or thousands on suppressors to avoid wearing a cheap plastic necklace is pretty dumb to me.
