You don’t need a >$500 backpack, a <7lb rifle, or any of the other latest and greatest hunting/backpacking equipment to have a great backcountry hunt in the mountains. Why do you need to worry about shaving 5-10lbs of weight from your back when your hoping to haul 100+ lbs out?

I don't about you, but I carry around that empty pack for a lot longer than the full one.
