It's funny, with hunter #'s dwindling how can hunting pressure be up? Maybe in certain areas that didn't used to see as many people because of tools like OnX. But that would mean other areas are lessening in pressure. They have to be with less hunting #'s.

Also, Rememeber when we used to celebrate things like Meateater for increasing adult onset hunters because they were increasing the amount of people that would be a support for hunters at the ballet box.....?

I grew up in MT, yes MT, and where we hunted you saw other hunters at every pull off in the woods. You went on to the next spot and hunted there. We shared. And we were successfull. I mean when I'm out hunting I'm in competition with the targeting species right? What's a little competition with another hunter?

Hunter numbers aren’t dwindling

Andrew is right.

No, I’ve never celebrated more hunters. Ever.

You’ll never get enough hunters to change anything at the ballot box.

I’m not in competition with anything or anyone and do not wish to be.

I’m not gonna lie this is the first time I’ve heard someone say something like this about Ceracoat. I personally haven’t put my rifle that’s coated through the wringer but I know people who constantly use the rifles between competitions and hunting and haven’t had anything bad to say about it. That being said my friends and I drive out west across multiple states to get our guns coated at LRI in Sturgis so it may very well be the people that apply it?
I have painted my duck gun due to hunting salt marshes and using it as a boat paddle. Paint and an hard epoxy clear coat has held up as well as any cerakote has for me.

My Unpopular opinion #1: An OK ribeye beats the best elk steak 100% of the time. No shade on game meat, but beef tastes much better, no matter how you try to justify it. Fat=flavor

My Unpopular opinion #2: by the end of season, no matter how it goes, I’m grateful to be done hunting. That feeling lasts about 30-45 days, then I’m excited again and looking forward to next season.

My Unpopular opinion #3: bait fishing sucks. It’s an excuse for lazy people to go out and drink beer somewhere other than sitting in their lazy boy.
I feel like I typed this myself. Had to see who posted this and make sure it wasn't me.

Ashby bowhunting studies don't apply to modern bowhunters. Current modern archery harvest rate is about 50% harvest rate and Dr. Ed Ashby rate over 640 animals is over 99% of his animals were recovered. Go figure that all the hype of fast long range light arrows leads to decreasing harvest rates.
My biggest problem is people FOCus on FOC because it's measurable.
Literally setup 1 : "use quality components" and step 2 : "have good arrow flight"

Nice quote. I think that is what Chris Bee said just before he wounded a buffalo to death. FOC is a Fear of Change without knowledge.

How do the no bait fishing guys catch catfish? And I don’t mean accidentally catching a channel cat once upon a time when fishing in a pond or picking up the odd cat when jigging crappie.

I despise drowning minnows and won’t do it to catch crappie, but some fish and their eating habits just aren’t conducive to artificials.
PS bragging about catching pike on whatever lure doesn’t count. That’s like saying you picked up a chick at a whorehouse.

You go to lake oahe and put on a jigging rap with blue or silver find 30 ft of water drill a hole and start ripping. We have had days this year of over 100 5-10 pound channels this winter and its annoying they wreck the hooks on the jigging raps while we are trying to catch walleyes

Unpopular: Everyone that is buried isn't going to heaven, not even the ones "you" think were good people.

Unpopular: One day, we will all bow, did you do it before or after you saw Him at the Great White Throne?

Unpopular: Anything over a .223 or 6/6.5mm is just overkill. This is according to many on here. LOL.

Unpopular: All kills aren't trophies! Young and old hear me, if you took that animal ethically and are going to eat it, it is a trophy!!!!!!!!!!!!! You did well my friend. Now, I'm not speaking of predator hunters, coyotes, coons, opossums, beaver, prairie dogs, etc., that is a different hunter/trapper/preserver of turkey populations, those men/women need applauding too. Don't let someone tell you it has to be a B/C or P/Y to earn you praise. You just make sure you didn't kill something just to kill it, I've seen that type too many times.

Unpopular: Learning woodsmanship skills

Unpopular: Studying your quarry by studying it in the field.

Unpopular: Learning to shoot in multiple positions that would simulate your field experiences. One shot, cold barrel, did you hit in a 1" circle out to 300y, 3" circle 500, 8" circle thereafter, that's after running and getting your heart rate way up, to simulate "Buck Fever." You have to learn to control your heart rate and breathing quickly.

Unpopular: .30 caliber guns. I shoot a .300 win mag, why? The ammo is easier to find than Lapua 338 and also a lot less expensive, I don't reload.

Unpopular: At least to some of my buddies and acquaintances, crappie and bream fishing with cane poles and minnows or earth worms I dug up. I don't drink, I like to catch a mess to have a fish fry for the family. I've done this a long time, it works for me.

Unpopular: Turkey: calling sparingly, sitting a lot, few calls, 12 gauge 2 3/4 #4's, 30" barrel. Also, I've killed as many up in the day as first thing in the morning.

1) The wearing of camo has gotten ridiculous. Seriously we dont need it for 95% of what we hunt. Its even funnier when people who do nothing but road hunt wear camo. It is even more funny when someone attends a trade show, wildlife dinner (DU, RMEF, Etc.) wearing their hunting camo clothes.
2) I hunt with the intent to kill an animal. I harvest vegetables. If anything I harvest meat from the animals I kill. I think its funny that in an effort to sugar coat what we do we stole a term from agricultural practices but we stole the wrong term. When I kill a steer or a pig I slaughter it. Why didn't we use the term slaughter? I know the answer but it is still funny.

Coyotes put a big hurt on whitetail populations thus you should kill each and every 'yote you see.

I don't buy it, at least where I live in SW Wisconsin. Almost every animal has predators, which is good for that animal - it weeds out the sick and weak. We have lots of whitetails in my area and IMO the coyotes don't put much of a dent in the overall population. In fact, I believe we have more whitetails than we need, so good for the coyotes to help thin the herd.
Blasphemy!
Do you kiss your Mom with that mouth???

Ok I’m done insulting everyone now 😂

EDIT: realizing I misunderstood the assignment. Either way, these are MY unpopular opinions that go against common held hunting industry positions/opinions. In case that wasn’t clear haha.
Who needs an excuse to drink beer?
If I work as hard as bass fishermen, I'm doing something for $. I love baitfishing

But if a good ribeye is prepared and enjoyed the same way it still beats wild game!
I'd argue with you about cube steak from a whitetail under 2.5 yrs old vs ribeye and ground whitetail with just enough beef fat to cook vs ground beef. We use ground venison at least 3x a week.

Oh we eat plenty of wild game too, mule deer and elk makes up 75% of my freezer contents. No shade on game, it tastes fantastic. But properly raised, finished, butchered, and prepared beef is objectively better in my admittedly unpopular opinion.

Yes sir, most don't realize the difference between real farm raised and butchered beef and what you pick up in the grocery store.
