That is a sweet looking can but is still heavier than the OG. The OG is 99%of what i want in a can but I just thought I saw a potential way to improve the weight and volume (suppression). Not to mention the weight shaved off the barrel, I don't know if that would amount to much or not. It wouldn't be a very good looking barrel profile without the suppressor but i don't shoot unsuppressed anyway. This is one of the ones that someone recommended to me:

Exactly, this idea we have kicked around but having something that has to be installed by a gunsmith seriously limits how many people will be in the market for it!The problem is there is one person that might buy it (you). People can barely grasp OTB that requires no modification to the rifle. What you want is in essence integrally suppressed.
It will cost more, but if you prepay for it, I’ll get them to make it if it is doable?
ABC!!!! You could of just sold a prefit barrel with integral OG or OGL comboExactly, this idea we have kicked around but having something that has to be installed by a gunsmith seriously limits how many people will be in the market for it!
First is this a can you yourself would choose over the existing OG? It would seem if the uniformed masses(me) could be shown the benefits of the ugly never seen before rokstok this wouldn't be such a stretch. I would be interested if I knew a cost and estimated weight/db rating. The problem is there is one person that might buy it (you). This can would still work on a regular muzzle although it would just be another 8 inch can. The barrel threading is something any competent smith could do easily. I do understand your and @Formidilosus arguments though.Exactly, this idea we have kicked around but having something that has to be installed by a gunsmith seriously limits how many people will be in the market for it!

I'm trying to figure out how a custom collar is easier than setting the shoulder back 4 inches on the barrel threading the back .5ish inch 5/8 24 and turning the remaining 3.5 inches down to .5 to slide in. I could have my local smith do it for 200 bucks. Sorry I'll be done derailing this thread.No. Probably not. It’s too limiting, and too specific for what I believe the gains would be. If you are going that far, integrally suppressed is the way. Otherwise using a collar at the back ala OPS Inc is the way. That, I could see using as the collars could be custom made for each barrel easy enough.

Why?You will still need the muzzle to be threaded in some way or captured by the can- you can’t just have it floating inside it.
I can understand this way if thinking, but your ears do not care if you are hunting or not. If damage is going to occur, it will during your 1 shot target shooting or your 1 shot hunting. The result is the same. I work around Tons of loud noises all day. I am always on guys to throw in our ear pro. Making it seem like exponentially dumber to do it during practice vs. hunting doesn't make sense to me. They are both easily preventable, if you truly care about every shot being shot with ear pro in.Purposely shooting at all, with a can or not, in the mountains or at the range on shooting days makes no sense to me. You aren’t “testing” anything valuable or measurable at all so what exactly is the goal? I’m asking a genuine question here not trying to be an ass.
On a hunt I get it, there isn’t always time to stick ears in and still be able to hear hits on animals, call outs from spotter, how loud your shuffling around is, etc.
I’ve shot WAY too many rounds without ear pro and I’ve drummed/played live music since I was 12.
It does suck saying “huh?” to my wife and kids at such a young age.

I agree. I also think integrated suppressor barrels are the future. Most people don’t shoot 10k rounds a year. A IBS that lasted 5-10 years would be fine to most people.Do you have an idea of what something like this would weigh using OG dimensions? I imagine it would greatly increase volume in the reflex.
At this time, i'd agree that most suppressor buyers want standard threads so they can swap a can around but there are getting to be a lot more of us who try to leave a can dedicated to a rifle. I bet my local smith would charge me $150 tops to do a muzzle up that way.

Have a really good idea of what it would weigh… I have an OG that is hub at the start of the reflex so all I really need to do is modify a barrel to get it to go over and use a direct thread adapter!Do you have an idea of what something like this would weigh using OG dimensions?
